Since I just got a new PlayStation 3 like some weeks ago, I might be pretty mad because if a PLayStation 4 came out, the price of the PS3 would plummet, which makes me really mad.

Also, if the PS3 doesn't have the idea where you can play PlayStation 1,2, or 3, or just even 3, then I think people will get mad for just wasting there money for games that they can't play in the newer sytem.

Also with more people buying more games, then they take more months unlocking and collecting trophies, which sometimes might be a pain.

THey should add an upgrade, or you can go to the store and just exchange it, that seems find to me.

I think there are some ups and down if a a PS4 comes out, and I will be happy if I got one with the new games.

If a PS4 had full hardware compatibility with the PS3, 2 and original I think it would be a great idea actually.
I would also welcome it if they ditched the whole trophies stuff and went back to in game completion ratios and stuff like that that you dont need the internet for.
But I'm sure that there wont be a PS4 for awhile yet, not until there is another big technology.
Cause the PS3 uses BluRay already, the only thing they would really do currently would be to add a better CPU or graphics card.

It depends. If it comes out in about two or three years then no, I doubt people will be that pissed. But if it comes out in 2011 (next year) then yeah, I think some people will be pissed.

Well when the ps3 came out my parents went and bought one... As of right now we have 3 ps3's so i doubt they would be mad if when the ps4 comes out. The one thing that would upset me is if they had the compatibility for all of the other play station systems then they just upgrade the ps4 and take the compatibility out like they did with the ps3.

I believe that the price itself would be an issue but I doubt it's enough to piss people off. How exactly is Sony supposed to improve the graphics of the PS3 anyway? If they somehow able to make it so realistic that nobody would be able to tell whether it's reality or fake would be impressive but I don't think they are at that point yet.

First off I love Sony. SecondS3 price would go down but not by much. They already lost a lot off money. Third-compatibility please. Fourth: PS4 won't come out for like a while, though it is already in development of course.

Others stated this, but I'll go ahead and say it. Many people were really pissed off at the fact that the PS3 was not reverse compatible with PS2 games. That is one thing they loved about the PS2. I'm more of an Xbox person, but I do own a PS2 for specific games like Kingdom Hearts. I think that people would be pissed off if one of the two things happened. They came out with a PS3 within a year or 2, or if they pulled a PS3 and did not make it reverse compatible with the predecessor games. That means that they spent all that money on a PS3 and the games and they can't even play them on the next system they have to buy if they want to stay current with the gaming world.

My take on this is the people that voted yes (like me) read the topic title as "Do you think people will be pissed if a PS4 came out tomorrow?".
But the people that voted no read the title as "Do you think people will be pissed if a PS4 came out EVER?"

So, if one came out in the next few years, say, so close to the Wii U that people would have to choose between them, then yes, I think people would be mad. But if they didn't come out until 2014 or 2015, sorta like how Sony promised when the PS3 came out, then I think few would complain.

I think game systems being released around the same time is a relic of the past that needs to die. Wii U should come out alone, far away from the other 2 systems. For crying out loud, the PS3 was released THREE DAYS before the Wii. Seriously...
