I mean come on it kind of pissed me off to see a PS3 after the money I put into to my PS2 and the games and it becomes obselete with the way overpriced PS3. At least Nintendo adds a new feature to there newest console and makes their previous console still needed. ie The gamecube uses the gameboy player and the wii can't

You really didn't put a time-frame in there, so with that in mind, I'd say: no. That's how console cycles work, buddy. A new one is introduced every 3-10 years and a new one will come after that. That doesn't mean that your PS2 is worthless; tons of good games came out for it after the PS3 came out! And the PS3 is a little pricey, yes. But that goes the same for every console at the start of their generation. With the ten-year life-cycle that Sony seems dedicated to, the price will reach "affordability," whatever that means, and then the successor to the PS3 will be announced after that. It's futile man, there's going to be a PS4. And there's nothing we can do about it.

As they said. And Sony has a good lifespan on its consoles, nearly 10 years of PS2 it would be now wouldnt it?
Thats nowhere near anything to be annoyed about.
Now the prices on the PS3 are something to be annoyed about, but one assumes that they will go down as well.
So I dont care if in another 8 years they release a PS4, so long as it has good games and is a good console is all that matters.
Thats the thing that is the real unknown factor.

xfighter1138: actually yeah I got annoyed about there being another xbox, mostly because I never liked the first one and dont think there should have been a second.
I think Sony should have kept control over the market as they have superior hardware, all they need is the games.

It would make PS3 prices plummet .
And also, I am 99% sure there will be one, it just may not be called a PS4.

I think everytime a new console comes out people are wild to buy it, and i guess since every next generation grows up with / buys the newest console, nobody will be pissed off !

As much as the Sega Mega Drive was my first console, i guess for the nest generation the first console will be the PS4 or XBOX - ... Know what i'm saying ?

And also for fanatics like me, it is amazing to see, how video games developed over the years. But i didn't buy anything after the PS1, i only lent all of the consoles from friends or play at their places.

I don't see why you should be mad if a PS4 came out. Just don't buy it. Sony basically dried out of games for the PS2, anyway. I would actually look forward to a PS4. It will be the first home console I will buy right when it hits the stores AND the first home console I will buy ever! Yeah, surprising, huh?

I think they may be over doing it if they would come out with a playstation four! but if they come out with a new exbox, they would need to compete and that may be the only way to do so.. nintendo is also starting to compete again..

Its all part of the development and the console cycle. If Sony went back on its promise of the 10 year cycle then yes, I image people would be mad. And its not truely fair to compare consoles, there is just a natural progession as with anything. From mainframes to PCs to Laptops to smart phones. There is just a progession. Having recently played both GoW and GoW3 I can say that the PS3 lets you do a lot of things that simply werent possible with the PS2. GoW will still be a great game and I have the PS3 with backwards compatability so I never felt cheated, after awhile I just started playing more PS3 games and found that a lot of my PS2 collection found itself in an awkward place were it was dated but not so dated as to be nostalgic. I hope Sony does keep to the 10 year cycle but I think they will develop a new console when they have sufficient technological distance between the two. The leap from PS2 to 3 is huge, so was the leap from xbox and 360, GC to Wii not so much but thats another debate.

No i doubt you would... Plus if PS3 made you happy why upgrade? Im sure the web play for PS3 wouldnt die out over-night either, Counter-Strike has thrived throughout the years because it was a lucrative idea.

I would not be upset at all. I can't wait to see where the world of video games will be at in 10 years. Just think 10 years back to now and see the big difference. Just imagine. I encourage the making of the new systems. When doing that one seems to be better than the last. I haven't personally played much of the PS3 but I think the XBOX 360 is just as good if not better with the exception of the Blue Ray player. The only thing that I don't like about a new system coming out is the price. It seems as the years go by and another system is made that new system is higher prices. Example when the PS2 come out it wasn't nearly as expensive as when the PS3 come out. However you do get what you pay for as well. If there is one thing that I could take back then that would be to make sure I held on to the old game consoles and there games. This site makes me think of that daily LOL! My advice to you and to myself is to make sure you hold on to the games you have now as you advance through the years. You never know in 20 years you may just want to get in the storage and pull out that old PS3.
