What game in the Retro Game Room do you think is the hardest to complete? Beat the game while recording the gameplay and than take a screenshot of the ending.


MEGA Competition:
This is going to be classified as a Mega competition because not only do 5 people get prizes but there's also cash prizes.


RULES and INFO:
-Only videos uploaded after 1/1/2014 count
-You can submit up to 5 submissions
-You cannot use any cheats or glitches
-You can not edit your video in any way, it needs to be raw footage
-Be sure to let me know in this thread which videos you've uploaded
-Be sure to specify which game and system each submission is for
-Your videos must be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account
-You must record your videos with the RGR Plugin
-You must use the Vizzed RGR Plugin to take the screenshots
-If more than 1 user does the same game, user who beat the game the fastest will have the only submission that counts for that game
-Each submission needs to be 1 video, not a video broken into parts so if your video is broken into parts, you can use a program like Freemake to merge them into 1 video (the only exception are videos that are longer than an hour, if you're unable to upload a video that is more than an hour long due to it being too big, than you can split it into parts but each part should be an hour or more long each, unless it's the last part)
-You must add your video to the game's page (which should happen automatically when you upload your video to the vizzed youtube account)
-Staff is ineligible for the cash prizes but can still win 1st and 2nd and get the Viz prize
-You can only use an external recording program (like Camtasia) for N64 and Sega CD games since they don't support video recording but the quality must be good and must still take a screenshot with the plugin of the game's ending screen as a way to verify the video was taken by you
-Once the competition is over, this will go into voting and we will figure out who the winner is by tallying up the votes of all of their submissions.


Prizes:
1st = US $50 or 75,000 Viz
2nd = US $25 or 37,500 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz
4th = 5,000 Viz
5th = 2,500 Viz


Cash Prizes:
The cash Prizes can be paid out in a few ways. I can purchase a membership on a website for you somewhere, I can order something for you off of amazon, I can send you the money via Paypal, I can buy you Microsoft Points, Nintendo Points or Playstation Points and send you the code, I can buy you an Amazon gift card and send you the code, etc.

All right! Got 3 games in mind already. I am particularly psyched for this one.

Davideo7 : oh mannnn I already uploaded lots of extremely hard playthroughs of games for the november comp, so those won't count at all?

hmm well in that case i still may enter, i just wanna know the criteria of challenging and beating the hardest games, can we make the default difficulty rating at least an 8 for games challenged?

 Davideo7 : isn't there a rating on the difficulty of every game on their game pages? I was saying ti should be a legit hard game not a mario game or whatever that gets all the votes so if we can find a way to shave down the games acceptable for entry. I have my first entry to this comp anyways I just recorded return of the joker for the NES it will be uploaded ASAP.

The hardest game for me is Dragon Ball adventure. Maybe for others is  easy but I consider this game very difficult. Thnx and happy new year.

Are we allowed to use save states while playing through the games because I could probably only beat the games with saves states. 


I have a few games in mind, I am not sure I can actually beat them though!

MechaMento : no save states, besides I don't believe you can record with save states on this site but I could be wrong

UFC : You can record using save states. The video just keeps on playing. But yeah, you can't used them. As for your concern on the voting aspect. It probably won't be as much of a problem as the last "hardest game competition". Before, anyone could vote. Now, only staff votes. They will likely choose on difficulty, not just on what mainstream game they like the best. Though I would recommend letting the staff know that if they don't play many retro games, maybe they should hold off on voting. But regardless, I trust they will be more fair than "Ooh, Mario is my favorite difficult game, so I vote that". But that is always a possibility when it is left to voting. Besides, there are a LOT of easy games with high difficulty ratings or hard games with low difficulty ratings. For some people, they rate difficulty based on not 1=easy 10=hard, but 10=appropriately hard. For example, 10 could mean that it is difficult and not due to glitchyness or gameplay flaws. That user could rate a harder game 7 because though it is harder, it isn't because of skill, but due to bad control development or glitchy gameplay. So the difficulty rating is subjective.

asdren : Please actually read the first post of the thread before posting in it. This is not a "what do you think is the hardest game" question thread. This is a RGR competition thread in which you post a video of you beating what you think are the hardest games. 

rcarter2 : damn thats a lot of pitfalls to consider, although I will say there are a few games I dont even want the sight of again like silver surfer, ghosts n goblins, dr jerkyll and mr hyde I really dont wanna record those again it'll make me sick. To be honest It'll probably end up being you and I and maybe Nickrj/nguyeun in a 3 horse race for this one if the judging is sound for retro hard games.   

No save states...
Well there goes pretty much all of the 80s platformers (other than Super Mario Brothers) and Mario difficulty hacks.
Hmm I might try Castlevania and Zelda II, though I have never beaten shadow link. 

UFC : I don't blame you. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is the definition of cheap enemies.

I might try my hand at Batman for the NES.  It's been a while, and I've never beaten the game, but I remember its fiendish difficultly.  It was really fun, though.  The best Batman game outside of the Arkham series, imo.

Does that mean if I submit a Let's Play of a game outside of N64 and PS, it won't count?

UFC : I think that if you pull of beating silver surfer who can probably win. It's impossibly hard and has amazing music!!

I don't think me playing my really easy NES games will win this so im not competing in this one.

Are we allowed to play MAME games? If so, is there a limit to the amount of credits we can use?

This sounds fun, I'm going to give it a try. A quick question though, what is the rule on warps? I'm not talking about cheat codes, I mean legit level skips. Are they banned or looked down upon? 

huh123: Why would you even ask Davideo7 that question? It is an official competition of Vizzed. You obviously must complete each course of the video game. That would not be fair to other users. The video game they choose to play may not include skipping of levels within the game.

   Excuse me, Davideo7. Would you consider Super Mario World acceptable? It is an extremely long video game, there are multiple of difficult levels, and some secrets are difficult to discover. In other words, it'll take a while to complete. I must also complete it 100%. I'm sure you've probably played this, so you probably know what I am speaking about.
