I'm in my 30s and I always called my grandparents grandma and grandpa.  Now all my uncles and aunts are becoming grandparents and they want names like Grampz and Gramz, G-Daddy, things like that.  They want to be hip and popular.

The question is a two-parter.  How old are you and what do you call your grandparents?

I've always thought this was an interesting question.  Growing up, I really only had one set of grandparents that I knew, and felt it perfectly normal. It wasn't until I was older that I realized everyone really had two sets of grandparents and most people knew both sets.

That being said, I'm 26.  I call, and always have called, my grandparents 'Papa and Grandma'.  That will never change. I can't imagine using or condoning anything like the examples you gave. That's just... weird.  Why would they want those names?  lol

I basically just call them grandma and grandpa which is pretty basic and simple, but when I am referring to them formally I at the father and mother at the end making it grandmother and grandfather. Other than that I really don't have any creative or specific nicknames or anything that I call them. So I just call them grandma and grandpa whenever I see them. I don't have any strange names like G-daddy or any strange nicknames in which I address my grandparents, I probably couldn't think of any and they would probably look at me weird and my parents wouldn't allow it XD. Interesting question topic though.

My parents and grandparents are Romanian immigrants, so that's what I call them, like tons of other kids in Romania. I get tons of odd looks at school or events, though, but I don't mind. On a similar note, I call my mother 'Mami,' which sounds a lot like the English 'Mommy.' So I've had people tease me for saying I talk like a six-year-old.

I am fifteen, and I call both my grandmas (dad's mom and mom's mom) grandma, which is plain and normal. I call one of my grandpas (dad's stepdad, and I have never met my dad's real dad) grandpa, which is also plain and normal. My mom's dad though... I call him Bibo because when I was really young, my family wanted tried to get me to call him grandpa in Spanish (since my family speaks both Spanish and English and Bibo isn't very good at speaking in English), and it came out as Bibo... and I never bother to call him anything else ^^;
