I think that it all depends on the game being bought and the price. But when I like much a game does not interest me the price of this game.

I personally decide according to two factors: how much I believe the game is worth and my financial situation.

If I think the game is overpriced, I usually wait until the price drops or until I can buy it used. I also wait when I think a game has a fair price, but it's over my budget to buy it. Games I try to get at launch are in general high-demand games that are actually good. An
example of this (for me) would be Super Smash Brothers Brawl (the sequel will probably fit in that category too, once released).

Also, if a game doesn't interest me, I just don't buy it (that's common sense, why did I feel the need to say it? Whatever...)

I almost always wait. Originally, it was to wait for a price drop or some bundle/sale regarding the game. Also, if I was lucky, a friend may have bought the game so I could get a sample of it myself playing it at his house (and allowing him to input his own review).
In recent days, I haven't had as much time for games so the 'waiting' part is pretty much a given. Perhaps the few times I haven't waited were select games, like Legend of Zelda: Link b/t Worlds, and Metroid Prime when that came out roughly 10 years ago.

Depends on which Game series it is about.
Mostly I am waiting for the Price to drop, but I just can`t resist to get a new Game from a series I loved from the Childhood to this Day.
I usually try to look at some Gameplay of the Game itself or, when they exists one, I try the demo first and then I decide, if it is really worth the full price or not.

-Regards

I wait till my parents have enough money, till the price drops, or when school ends. The game I'm aiming for is Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit for PlayStation 3.

I know that I have only gotten about 3 or 4 games when they came out, most of the. Being pokemon games. I normally wait until they drop 5-10$ before going out to buy them. I don't have a very great source of income, so I have so spend money wisely. I buy a lot of old games to add to my collection, which saves me a ton of money then they would have cost when hey first came out.

It all depends on the game. But most of the time I would wait about a month to go by and then buy it. Sometimes if I don't have enough money to buy the game, I would watch let's plays and walkthoughs on youtube. Now and days, I buy Wii games, since their at a lower price now and a regular Wii U game is like $60, if bought new.

For me, I just see how much I have been anticipating for the game. If I really do want it, I will just get it right away, on the other hand, if I know I would play it, but I am not as thrilled for the game, I will just wait until the price drops.

I never buy anything right after it's released, video games or anything else. It's rarely worth it.

I'm not a very patient person when it comes to video games.

I can usually wait about a week or two before caving and going out shopping for games. That's it, if anything it's a need to stay updated with my other gaming friends that drives me to go out and buy stuff.

Typically, yes. I'm broke, you see, quite a major portion of the time.

I own close to 300 video games but more than three quarters of them are used. The only ones I buy new are ones that are part of my favorite series, or I've been seriously anticipating them for a year or greater. Some of those games were Pokemon Fire Red and Emerald Versions... also Tales of Graces and Tales of Xillia, since I've been a huuuuge Namco Tales fan for the past few years.

Other ones would be Dragon's Crown, which I preordered after hearing that it had been revived from it's original Sega Dreamcast project and would be released on the PS3, and Borderlands 2, which I preordered and went to a GameStop release party, because I was so satisfied with the first game, not something I can usually say about a first-person shooter.

It really depends on the price. If it's an indie game on Steam I'm going to get it immediately but if it's a console game that costs over 50€ I'm going to wait until its price drops. And if I don't get my games online I always buy them used, much cheaper that way.

Unless it's a game that I really, really want, I wait for the price to go down.  As fun as a new game can be, the $50-60 price tag on a lot of them makes it just not worth buying - I'd rather be several months behind the curve and pick them up cheaper, even if it does mean that some friends will try to tell me all about the fabulous game I'm missing... somehow they never seem to learn that people don't want the experience spoiled.
