DOS emulation what always bothered me. I mean why not? You can't play The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall, Tyrian, DooM 2 (PC version is best), Jagged Alliance - Deadly Games, XCOM, Commander Keen, Jazz Jackrabbit, WarCraft 1/2, Sadow Warrior, The Need For Speed, Hertic, Hexen, The Secret of monkey Island,Theme Hospital, Roller-Coaster Tycoon on consoles in their full glory.

Mistress : store to buy real, not digital games with Viz.

Chart : While that may end up being a very positive feature, it would also require David to offer games with no income. Not many people donate for viz, and so David would essentially be giving these games away. He's in the midst of being more inactive because he needs more money, so I doubt he'll be rich enough to just offer games like that for a while.

I'm still going to add Chart's suggestion, because David did say he wanted the value of Viz to be.. well, valuable. So while it might not be a in the near future, it's still quite possible that it could happen.

For the spell checker you (you refers to Vizzed staff, mostly anyone who can make these changes) should add the names of various characters, items and other things from video games. If there are parts of names of video games that aren't in the site's dictionary, add those too.

Do not add Japanese names of things in games, even if they're games that never made their mark on an English-speaking country.

 

Of course, you don't know everything about video games, but you sure must know a lot. The staff may have already started this project (I haven't looked into it myself), and if you have then it's still incomplete. Yes it's going to be a hard task. Of course it might not even be possible to do this.

If this change is made, the spell checker won't lie so much and it'll open the path for new possibilities that may never have been safe to implement before.

 

I'd rather suggest this stuff straight to Davideo7, but it seems there isn't a place I can do that. He's the owner and all, so I assume he's got more control over this stuff.

Quick question. Is there a way to donate less than $25? I cannot find out how to.

I don't know, actually. I have not yet tried to see myself if it was possible to donate anything below $25. However, I do know that it was possible before. I'm not sure why the change, but it's already suggested in this thread to lower the amount to -- at the least -- $10.

Videogame reviews are very popular. So I thought why not make a shared ( or one person edits and uploads ) youtube channel where selected volunteers read up the best opinions about a game, and the opinions would be shared on a thread. The volunteers would edit some gameplay into the video, maybe read up the best posts with the poster's name included and put an intro and a vizzed ad at the end of the video.There would be a poll about the next game that the volunteers selected. Also a youtube partnership may be usefull for the financial problems of the site.

Wow, that's a lot of suggestions in your first post Mistress. A team of programmers could probably work around the clock for a month strait and barely make a dent in them. Having said that, I'll make another one, LOL!

There have been several times that I have stumbled across a "Newbie Forum - About Me!" thread where the thread creator communicates in a language other than English. Since this is the World Wide Web perhaps Davideo7 could devote a forum to "Other Languages" - with starting sub-forum keywords like Español, Français, Deutsches, and ??? - plus many more!

Sure, it would be impossible for most of us to tell what in the world was going on in those threads (who knows, it might be a horrible flame war) but these nationalities would have a place to talk with one another and possibly increase site traffic.

I have a suggestion. I read through all the suggestions but could not find this one. No way im checking again.

Some of the huge threads I am having a hard time finding out if I posted in it or not. Well if you have posted in it put it there.

SUGGESTION 1: I don't think this has been suggested before, but I don't really suppose that matters too much. I think that users that are having a birthday should have something in addition to 5,000 Viz. For example, multiple boards give you a rainbow username if your birthday is that day. I know that could be confused with the rainbow banner, but is having 2 rainbow usernames really too much? And maybe it could actually have a rainbow texture instead of multiple colors (e.g. Webkit, though it's not supported by most browsers).

Or maybe the RGR could be free for the day or something. Possibly a marquee banner that goes across the top of Vizzed saying, "Happy birthday, User1, User2, User3, and User4!"

SUGGESTION 2: Renew the definition of the word "active." The list of birthdays displays birthdays for users Member rank and above (and skips newbies). However, it says "active user birthdays." I was thinking that maybe trusted/elite users and above should be displayed no matter how active, while members could only have their name displayed if they have been active within the last 3 months or so. I know it isn't really a big deal or anything, but does anyone really care about a regular member who only played in the RGR that was last online in early 2011 having a birthday? This would remove the need to add a scrollbar to the birthdays section, though a scrollbar should still be implemented.

I go with mrfe by saying that there should be a scrollbar on the donations/birthdays box. Is that really so hard to implement?

I think a search bar for the Vizzed Board would be useful, or at least for the help forums. I've seen a lot of threads in the asking the same things without realizing that it was asked by someone else already. It would also be helpful for someone like me who was trying to find people asking a similar question - a Mac/Linux version of the RGR plugin - as I figured out how to make it work in those systems and figured they would like to know how to make it work over being told that it's impossible. A search bar would make it much easier to sort through the 50+ pages of questions.

Also, as I spell-checked this post, I noticed that the spell-checker says "Vizzed" is misspelled. That may be something to fix as well

Make a plug in for browsers to enable us to see when someone responds to our topic, summons us, PMs us, or David creates an announcement while away from the computer.

It would make it so much easier to respond faster. 

Another idea (came to me while typing this):

Earn like 1-5 Viz for every 5-10 views you have on site. Would make gaining Viz so much easier plus we would hit that 10 billion mark of views A LOT faster because a lot of people would be scanning the forums JUST TO MAKE Viz. I know it sounds a bit cheap and all, but still, an idea. I originally gained this idea from GaiaOnline.

I've got a suggestion. (Captain Obvious). You already do the RGR competition, and I did talk to some people about it in some threads some months ago, but you should hold some System Link LAN tunnel competitions on popular old games like Halo 2 or CE. I know of and have personally used two LAN tunnelers (sorry, LAN tunneling is taking a system link game (connecting 2 or more consoles through LAN and play a game through it on separate TVs) and taking the data sent between the consoles and sending them through the Internet to other players) that work great. I could write a thread about LAN tunneling and the two pieces software, how to set them up and use them so some people can join together and play. Great part is the software is free (though one has premium service with some extra features)! The software is XBC (Xbox Connect) and Xlink Kai (which XBC supports xbox/xbox 360 and PSP while Xlink Kai supports GameCube, PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox, and Xbox 360). I will be able to help some one help set up and play with this about 8:00-9:00 AM tomorrow (server time).

Mistress : Another Suggestion. I know I'm giving a lot but here goes.

A search feature for the Thread Layout section. Would make it so much easier to find the layout you want without scanning through a whole bunch of layouts you DON'T want.

On top of that, Signatures should be User managed, not Trusted Member managed. They can still do the layouts and all, but signatures should be for users and Rankings should be for Trusted members. At least that's how most forums go. I don't know.

Hi all

One thing that I have not managed to find yet is a search function in the forums.  I haven't found a way to search for topics that maybe already have threads in existence.  If there is one, could someone please point me in the direction to look.  If there isn't one, I think it would be worthwhile doing.

For instance, I haven't been able to find out why emulator games only run in 1/6th of the screen, or whether there are any Matrix themed layouts.  These are threads I'll likely start over the next few days, so please don't answer those questions.  But help with the search function would be appreciated.

You mean like a specific room for PC, Mac, and App games? It might be a bit too much for it to have its own room, but I can definitely see it having their own category in the VGR, if they aren't in there yet.

1st Idea: So I have the log in page as my start up page on chrome. I was wondering if maybe you could put a notification for people that are still logged on via Browser Cookies that they are already logged on and they are being redirected to the home page. I still see the log in page when I'm already logged on. 0.o

2nd Idea: Maybe these aren't ideas but bug fixes, but still. Anyway, The icons for the ranks. Some are incorrect and some don't even show. You might want to fix that or update them to show more recent icons (for people that exceed LVL 100).
