Doomsday (Not Doctor Who!)
You can find plenty of evidence if it's not all clearly defined as lack of it.

(NOTE: For once, I make a Doctor Who reference in the title without any intention of writing Doctor Who. Perhaps later. Anyway, here is a poem about a crazy doomsday predictor, who sees evidence in EVERYTHING! Also, this is a sure way to know I've been listening to too much Night Vale. I don't even know... Well, enjoy your unavoidable, inescapable demise! )

The end
Of the universe
Rests on the razor edge
Of a grasshopper’s wing
Sings in the grasses
Whispers in the trees
I see it in the date-
It’s June- THAT’S A SIX!
June 6th…!
….…2015.
BUT!
It will at some point be 6:00! AH-HAH!
…Do I seem a little bit eager to find evidence of the world’s impending doom…?
Perhaps.
Is this unwarranted?
I think not.
I seek only to reveal the truth
Which says to me:
“We shall all die.
There is no remedy for the world’s ills.”
Now that may seem pointless,
To foretell
If we can’t, in fact, do anything
But I like to be in the know
I’m a scientist, my friends,
And I assure you
The unicorns that most certainly exist
Have told me
We’ll all die today…
… At 6:00!
(I should buy more poster board for signs!)
I see my reflection in a puddle on the way there, proving my assumptions,
And find a penny, but it’s bent!
Surely, surely that proves it to you?!
THE END OF THE WORLD
TIME
SPACE
THE UNIVERSE
ETERNITY
And you take the time to argue with me?
Pathetic!
That butterfly is certainly an omen,
Eaten by a hawk representing the end and…
What…?
It’s 8:00…?
CONGRATULATIONS, FRIENDS! WE’VE SURVIVED!
Although that crack in the sidewalk makes me question tomorrow…

PokefanKala : How gloomy . Though it is short I do see evidence of somewhat dramatic writing Nice But just so you know ..... in about 5 billion years from now (probably less because I heard this in like 2012 0r so ) the sun , just like every other star.. will die . When a large star like our sun dies it goes super nova ... it gets larger and ;larger and so large that it will ingulf the entire solar system so ... yeah

Mr. Zed : Thanks! Yes, I did know that the sun is going to die. However, it is not actually a big enough star to become a supernova. It will expand into a red giant and then collapse into a white dwarf star. Of course, when it does expand into a red giant it will, in fact, be large enough to swallow the Earth, but, like you said, that won't be for about another 5-7 billion years. Humans will probably not still be around by then anyway, although we presumably have many, many generations left for our species. I didn't mean to imply that our world will not someday end, just not likely while we are still here in a very specifically predictable fashion. And anyway, this was supposed to be more about how the imagination can get carried away and see "omens" or hidden meaning in everything, but yeah. Glad you liked it.
