I personally like Mortal Kombat. That and the likes of Street Fighter are the true fighting games. I did not believe this at first when you said it is the best selling fighting game in the world but I was wrong because I looked up the global sales of games like Street Fighter 2, Soulcalibur 4 yet Super smash bros had a few million more than both. 
I do enjoy Super Smash Bros Brawl though I did say that Mortal Kombat is my favourite especially the first 3, they were the best in the series. I just love the games violent feel because when you punch someone you feel it, the physics were done perfectly. When playing Super Smash Bros it just feels too light and unrealistic and I am not saying that Mortal Kombat is realistic because it is not, yet it feels real.

I learned how to play a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! It's really easy to learn the controls and it's really fun to brawl for hours at a time. I've never played the story mode but just brawled with all the characters my friends had unlocked.
