As Professor Oak said in the anime, these special creatures known as Pokemon live freely around us. Up until now, Professor Oak just wanted us to catch as many species of Pokemon we could, but this time, there will be no violence (at least that's the point, because you will be throwing apples to a Pokemon's head and sometimes make it explode). In this whole new adventure, you help Professor Oak in taking photographs of Pokemon in their wild habitat, as they pass by you, get closer to you or interact between themselves. The habitat will change from either a river, a valley, a cave and even an active volcano. Well, who in the world would be heading to a volcano to take pictures of Pokemon instead of getting closer to the crater and see the power of the inner Earth. Real life stories apart, let's see what this game can offer.

Graphics: The graphics are inspired in Pokemon Stadium. In here, since Pokemon are depicted in the wild, they rarely appear standing still, swiftly moving, swimming or flying around the zone you are exploring right now. There are some instances in which you can find a dancing Snorlax, a Pikachu in a surfboard or a trio of Jigglypuff singing something for you. Maybe the graphics are something we have already seen in other games, but the animations of the Pokemon are very dynamic and realistic. That's why graphics earn a 9.

Sound: Well, little to say here. There's only one song for each zone, plus a few more for the menus, so the background music isn't the best thing of this game. It's also one of the few games in all Pokemon history, maybe even the only one, to not include Pokemon cries, but instead they say their name, like in the anime, or do animal-like growls, like Pidgey. For this unique and special feature between all Pokemon games ever made, I give sound a 7.

Addictiveness: Taking photos of what you see can be easy. Pleasing Professor Oak maybe not. Finding the best photo, even less. There are many ways in which Pokemon can interact with each other, and the more Pokemon that appear on a single photo the more points you're awarded. Also, if they perform a special action, such as Pidgey's Gust or Magmar's Flamethrower, or Pikachu in the surfboard to say something not related to attacks, they award you even more points. Also, you can make some Pokemon evolve by throwing apples to them and making them fall into the pit they are orbiting, the only way you can obtain pictures of Charizard and Victreebel, or drawing them closer to each other, like in the case of Magneton. There are also hidden Pokemon around all stages, If we combine all these things, you will for sure spend a lot of tries to snap all the Pokemon within each zone. I think addictiveness has proudly earned a 9.

Story: There's no story whatsoever in this game. You just keep riding around a selected zone and snap every Pokemon you see to obtain the greatest bunch of points. That's pretty much all behind this game.

Depth: Not many zones to select from don't make this game last long. You end up growing tired of riding around the same stage just to obtain the pictures remaining. Also, this game features like half of the total Pokemon that were known at the time of the game's release, which is very disappointing. You can unlock everything in very few tries, and you don't even need to accurately do everything in a zone to advance to the next one. The depth is one of the weakest points of the whole game, that's why I give it a mere 6.

Difficulty: If depth was one of the weakest points of the game, difficulty is the weakest point without any glimpse of doubt. I'm not saying it's easy, but on general terms it is. Just because there are very few Pokemon that are hard to get doesn't equalize the fact that five dozens of Pokemon are incredibly easy to snap. Moreover, the hidden Pokemon aren't that hard to locate. All in all, I think that the game is rather easy to complete up to 90% or even 95%. For this, and I expect I don't find any other disgusting thing like this in any other game, difficulty earns a 4 out of 10.

Overall: The game's idea was completely new and revolutionary for the time the game was released, but well, Nintendo rarely makes a game not following this pattern of revolutionary ideas. Every game, at the first try, has flaws here and there, that's why sequels are needed, although some times the sequels end up failing so much after repeated tries (Mario Party, for example). I really think that, with Nintendo's mindset of making games for children like the DS series of Imagine games, a sequel to Pokemon Snap including the great number of Pokemon in existence nowadays and the new generation consoles would be very great and admired both by children and for the now adults that played this game back in the 20th century on their N64. It's a shame that Nintendo won't ever hear us, old school players, to make sequels for long dead games like this one.

Nice job on that review man. It's categorized very well with a good and interesting intro and a decent amount of detail in each category. You can try to put the rating next to the categories like "Graphics: 8" though it doesn't really matter much. Keep it up.
