Recently, my step-dad gave me his old laptop but he had to perform a factory reset on it. Now the type of graphics it has is unknown. DXDiag can't find it or the processor at all, the Device Manager says the graphics is a standard VGA Graphics adapter but it etects the processor, & while the system information says the same thing when looking under display, it does give more information under summary. The processor is an AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1400 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s).

The Device Manager has about 8 things with yellow exclamation points on them. I know their drivers need to be updated but whenever I search for them online, it never seems to stop searching. How can I update those drivers? Will that solve my issue or is there something else I need to do?

I'm not exactly sure what your issue is, or if updating your driver will even help get rid of it. But it's worth a try, right?

I believe what you were trying to do is click on that yellow exclamation point and have windows search for updates through the internet, correct?

If that's the case, you can always go to the manufacturer's website and download an update.

Since you mentioned AMD, here's the website. It has an automatic detect feature if you aren't sure what to input.

Hopefully, this will get you one step closer to fixing it.

Mistress : I tried that but it did nothing.

Something else I forgot to note in my first post; While the laptop was factory reset, it had originally come with Windows 7 but it now runs Vista Home Premium. My step-dad couldn't get Windows 7 back on it.

I am totally lost on what to do.

EDIT: The Device Manager finally finishes its search for driver software on the things that have the yellow exclamation point symbols but it says they're all up to date when those symbols clearly say otherwise. :/

Maybe... Those symbols doesn't always mean that the drivers need to be updated.

I did a bit of search to see what could be done, and I wanted to ask if you have checked the status for them?

I don't understand how it's done on Vista, so here's information on how to check it.

There might be an error message code displayed. If that's the case, there's already a link to a list of device error codes on the page I just linked you to.

Hopefully this will bring some light to the situation.
