Doom is said to be one of the earliest FPS, but that is a lie. The first FPS was made in the 70's called "Maze War". But Doom was the first to make a huge impact. It was released for PC's in the 1990's and ported to several consoles. One of them being the SNES. Now, this version of Doom is probably the one most people in their youth have played.

But, it is a tad watered down. Well, first of all, the graphics. I know it is a 16-bit console but the enemies are very difficult to see from a far distance, so it is hard to tell what is shooting you. That is really the only problem with the graphics. But, they took out some other things. On the title, you can select your difficulty and "episodes". On the SNES version, you cannot do so. I understand the graphical flaws, but why remove the menu options?

Forget about the Soup version! I always play the Sega 32x version, the graphics are great, the music is good (most people like the Snes versions music better though), the game is shortened though. From what I have heard and seen the best home console version of Doom is the Atari Jaguar version but it is hard to get your hands on (not really hard, just costs alot to buy the game and console to play it on). As fare as buying or playing the game I would go with Doom for the 32x.
