Ah, Growing up as a kid I absolutely loved super mario, and I am pretty sure that all of you know that this fat plumber has gone on to become one of the most rememborable video game characters in history, right next to sonic the hedgehog, heck, When you come to think of it...These two guys are starting to remind me of ratchet and clank and jak and daxter! Only born as 90's characters, and jak and daxter and ratchet and clank were born in the mid 2000's!? But as we were saying guys! Back then mario was totally at his peak, everybody loved him and I already know that I did as well, Not once did I ever see mario's games at the time get any criticism, until now, and well, You know what I am talking about. But let's just get onto the review shall we? This is mario's time machine for the super nintendo! Let's hope this turns out good...

Story-7/10
Man, mario needs a long break for crying out loud! He has had to save princess peach god knows how may times, and he is in for a huge suprise today. This game is actually set in an actual time period believe it or not (1993) and well here is what is going on, Mario's arch nemesis bowser has invented his own time machine aptly named the timulator (Very very cute) to kidnap all of the precious artifacts from the many points and periods of time so he can put it all up on his so called museum that he is making, worse?is that if bowsers manages to successfully do so, then the world and all of history will be ruined FOREVER! Which then brings us to our hero mario, who is just calmfully minding his own buisness one calm day until he hears of bowser's sinister plan! So we all know what the fat plumber has got to do now, Mario hasve believe it or not two options in hand, he can restore history and save all of mankind, or he can let bowser get away with it! Thus letting him destroy all of history and mankind! Eitherway, he will have to fight for his world! So yeah, that Is pretty much It. I actually like the story for this game, but we have not seen It all, No no no guys! Just wait till you see how the actual game will end up in the end! Let's start...

Gameplay-6/10
Mario's time machine is as simple as you could possible get for an adventure game of this calibur, players will take control of our favorite plumber mario, as you guide the plumber through more then eleven different time periods, collecting goodies, and putting everything back in it's rightful place! Controls are pie, D-pad moves mario, A lets you interact with objects, B lets you jump, X lets you take off artifacts off of their place, and Y lets you dash gracefully through the world. The game starts you off in the museum, here you can access all the game's levels and look at the precious artifacts. All of the levels can be accessed through mario's time machine, just enter the correct number and go ahead wherever that you need to go! However? it is way more fun then it sounds, you will have to then play this little minigame where you must surf across the ocean collecting ten mushrooms, sucessfully doing so will send you to the museum. Here is where it starts wholesomely, You are sent to explore through the time period by yourself talking to people for clues on where to go, you finally get some blanks to fill in about your historical figure that you are learning about throughout the leve, leaving you to find out all of the blanks. It is then onto the next world! Doing more of the same things that you just did like five or so seconds ago! There is nothing wrong with repitition if it is down right. Did I forget to mention that there are absolutely no boss fights or anything along the way? Yes. Not only is the gameplay itself reptitive, but it is pretty time consuming as well! Each world you will explore takes about 30 or so minutes before finally completing it. That is It. Let's cut to the next section shall we?

Graphics-8/10
Ah, I will always remember getting cold shivers watching and looking at the opening cutscene, Which is mario standing in front of a dark and gloomy castle wondering what to do next, but do not be fooled guys! Just because the opening cutscene of the game itself is good does not mean that this is the only good part of the game! But let's get back on topic shall we? The first thing you notice when looking at the actual sprites for this game is that all the sprites and backgrounds and such are all ripped from super mario world! Mostly mario, as he looks a little darker and differently colored then he was in super mario world. As for the enemies and other stuff, they are all of your typical fare, A bunch of mario's enemies from the past few games wander around the streets of each world, The koopas, the goombas, and everybody else. There are fairly a decent amount of animations for the characters, Mario has his moving sprite, His running animation, His jumping pose, and well that Is it! Let's get into the actual level design, The levels themselves are actually pretty plain and don't offer or take much brains to get through, There are tons of townsfolk to get? clues from, and while they tell the wierdest clues, be thankful that they actually tell you stuff! You'll adventure through the jurassic period, a chinatown, and so many more places. The HUD for the game is pretty self explanatory, While not much stuff is displayed on the screen, Some certain levels in the game still use a HUD, Like the surfing level, which shows you how many mushrooms you have collected, and finally your bonus meter. The game still looks pretty good though!

Sound-7/10
The sound for the game is also a high point of the game as well, Once you start the game itself, You are greeted to some really gloomy? yet peacefully calm music that really sets your expectations for the adventure Itself, as saying for the rest of the game, It is all of your typical mario fare. We have the spunky and entergetic ocean level where you explore and collect mushrooms, we have the lonely streets of chinatown where tons of villagers run calmly, we have the big museum where mario uses the time machine to teleport his way from world to world, and many of the other levels in the game have the same kind of music. Now let's get to the sound effects, they are all of your typical stuff that you come to expect from mario games, we have boings, dings, booms, and well, yeah. Never once has the music really gotten on my nerves once through the entire playthrough of the game, as nintendo always finds cool ways to impress no matter what is the case, Let it be mario, Let it be link, Let it be samus, It is all good for me!

Addictiveness-5/10
As a kid, I actually used to have tons of fun with this game, Whenever I was bored, I would just pop it in the super nintendo for a while just so I can forget about everything else, but looking at the game today....Eh, the game hasn't really aged much to be honest, and here is excactly why I say that. Well first, let's start with the overall feel of the game shall we? The game was universally panned because it is an overly complicated educational game that really doesn't offer much to do besides get confused and wonder to yourself "What am I supposed to be doing? Second, It would have to be the overall difficulty of the game as well, when I was younger, I used to have no idea what I was doing nor what all of this history stuff is necesarly about, neither that or I didn't pay attention in school much.

Depth-5/10
Here is where the game really doesn't fail to dissapoint me, It is the excact amount of stuff to do and see, Well let's start with this section! Oh boy! This adventure will most likely take you a good hour or so to pass, as you do know! This game does feature only a good 4 or so levels to play in! And after going through all of that trouble, I really don't see why to go through it all again, not to mention that the game does use a password system as well! Which means that you will have to use this code to resume the game, metroid, you lose this round!

Difficulty-8/10
Here is without a doubt one of the game's highest points, it has to be the difficulty level! And boy will you guys agree with me on this one! As a kid, I had so much trouble trying to understand this game and all of it's ways, I mean just look at this! While exploring through the levels, the townspeople never seem to do anything except tell you random nonsense that does not have to do anything with the game whatsover! Second, It is trying to bring an artifact to it's place, there are tons of hazards set to ensure you that you won't get through the place easily, and I can see why they did that. But if you have the inteligence of a 9th grader and know your way around all of this game, then you'll pass this game with flying colors!

Overall-6.0/10
So yeah, now you guys know already, this game is pretty darn medicore and I can seriously explain all the reasoning behind this! Well? Say it RedHotToddy! Oh yeah! Here is why I gave the game a 6.0, It is because the game is pretty hard and will most likely confuse you through the first few times playing, and everything is so convoluted as well! So know you guys know how this mario game went, and I think it is now time for me to go! So anyways, this has been RedHotToddy's 139th review, and I will see you guys in my 140th review! Anyways, bye!

Nice review. It is shorter than your others, but still good. You went a little off topic in the beginning.  I would avoid doing that in the future.  Anyways,  good job overall.

Good review you have here! You had good detail, and you covered everything. I must say that this one is not quite as good as your other ones but it is still a good one. It was not as long, but it still had a good amount of detail in it, so I really enjoyed how you wrote it. But I will say that all that about all that history, was kind of boring. ( I am not a big history guy ) but I can't complain much. Good job and keep it up! Thanks for yet another great review!

lol. I laughed at the overall rating score you gave it a 6 out of ten. I'd probably rate the game lower, but of course. This isn't the first mario game with educational crud we didn't need .

,but they shouldn't have made the title sound so fun and amazing. Like A true next step up to mario world.

Nintendo: Remake this concept and make it the way it should be. That'd odda get you some booming business I think. .

Nice job, and I agree mario does need a break. They need to get Luigi or someone in more games. I'll rate the review a 4 out of 5.
