To specify, common things basically means things you have in common, like favorite music, arts, television shows, all that good-looking stuff.

Anyways, what would you argue is most important for a relationship, especially in making it last? Shared values and morals, like not stealing, being loyal, etc, or just liking the same things as each other?

I would have to say common values. Lol, you can both like the same music artist, and one person has a desire to kill another while the other person has a desire to steal all the money from the local gas station. No bueno.

Sure, liking the same stuff is pretty neat, but not all relationships last that way. There's the saying "
Opposites attract." There's a reason for that. Commonalities are not always the best things.

Common morals are always good to have. You both are just following the laws really, and many ethos of "better" society.

What do you think about this?

Sidewinder :

Sure, common morals are good. You mentioning someone wanting to steal everything from a gas station reminded me of my ex with who we used to go stealing together. Her trick was that she would start to make out with me and at the same time she would put stuff to her purse. We were never caught. But despite us sharing the same moral values we at some point grew apart.

About this opposites attract jazz... I have never experienced it myself. Would like to hear some stories from those who have though.

Well in a relationship you should always be willing to listen to each other's  point , even if it completely different from yours , and considering it .  Be sure to resolve and fix all conflict and problems as they may rise up again in zeh future . And there should be a level of trust expected . A decent one

I would say common morals. Common interests are all fun and all, but having the same opinion on everything doesn't go far. I might be wrong though...

Both. They both have pros and cons. Its like the debate, Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? Kinda hard. It goes person by person. Everyone has a opinion, but none are right or wrong.

Common things:

Pros: You wont get board of being with one another. You can talk about ANYTHING and you will both be deep in the subject. You both wont question why one another like something because you both like it.

Cons: This sudden rush of excitement will end faster then it started. You will only have a friendship and not a relationship. It will be mostly about the THINGS you like and not what you like about EACH OTHER.

Common Morals:

Pros: You feel the same about a lot of things. You will feel close to each other because when one person has a good/bad day, you will know exactly how they feel. Usually people with Common Morals spill their hearts to each other.

Cons: You will spill your heart to your significant other and if you have a bad break up, that all gets public. You are only interested in what the other person thinks about this or that and not about what they like about this or that. You can be friends, but it wont last long.
