The topic is pretty straight forward, who do you think was responsible for the government shut down, republicans, democrats or both?

Both parties are responsible. The whole thing was just ridiculous. Reminds me of two siblings fighting over the last cookie.

I feel it is both the Republicans and Democrats faults. It seems to be very had and frustrating for them to usually ever agree with each other. 

There was a recent poll, and 62 percent blamed the Republicans for the shutdown. 

I did not follow the government shutdown too closely, but I got the gist of it. I think it had something to do with the funding gap and Obamacare as well.

I think to my opinion to the whole government shutdown, I think personally the ones responsible for the shutdown is month Republicans and Democrats, the reason why I say this, well, look at it this way, the Democrats really wants to push that Obamacare thing though and make it official and the Republicans didn't want to go though with that, so what do we happen to get, the government shutdown. So to my opinion, I if Obamacare didn't exist, then the whole government shutdown wouldn't been going on and both parties can at lease shut up about it and not fight about a dumb little thing.

Like Tgags mentioned, both the Republicans and the Democrats are nothing but crybabies and going to complain about the stupidest things, like I think the government shutdown shouldn't even happen, but the Republicans want to have things go their way so in result, we happen to gave the government shutdown.

Many people blame the Republicans. Sure, they were a huge part. But that's not all.

Really, it was both. If the Democrats hadn't have pushed, the Republicans wouldn't have to, either. What's wrong with the government is simple: They create different parties and try to prove the other wrong. It's all about competition now, and who wins is what matters. It doesn't matter to many people of both parties that we went into a shutdown. If they didn't have the big debate and just compromised, we wouldn't have fallen into the shutdown. Not that I have anything against the government. But what I am saying is that they aren't really going for making our country better. People are trying, but the majority isn't letting it work. It's all competition now. Republicans have to get what they want, and same with the Democrats. Not that they're crybabies, but that they aren't working together. Like tgags had said, it's just pointless to debate. Why not divide the cookie and share? In this case, why not hear both sides and compromise?

I'd say the Republicans were responsible for it. They tried demanding things that they knew the Democrats wouldn't give them in exchange for funding the government. They also changed the rules the House operated by so that the other members couldn't stop the shutdown until the Republican leaders wanted to.
