I really get annoyed when I reply to everything, until I hit something I just cannot reply to. At all.

Even though I think this TdV has become a bit too spammy, I have an idea or two.

You can make your own threads, or try making your own layout and showing it off in the show off thread. Maybe try to contribute to Vizzed by making a video, playing a game, or posting a review. There's a world of possibilities!

I never had the problem you have, although I have a similar one, where I run out of post on the "New Post" page that I want to reply to. After that, I take a break, or just wait a while on viz, listening to music or doing something else. Unless you are really determined to achieve a posting status thing, than I would suggest taking a break.

I do make many of my own threads, but if I do reply a lot to many of the New Posts, I go play a game or something, or just mess around making new layouts. I never thought of the idea of showing it off in the Show Off Layouts thread though, I am go and do that later on.

If I truly get really bored (like during the last few days of the previous VCS), I go watch YouTube or listen to some music.

I think everyone has this problem and that is why I am yet to ever win a jersey. I have tried some stuff such as going into different forums and searching through them. That is a little time consuming though so if you are going for the green jersey then you could be in trouble. You can extend the new posts page by changing the amount of threads that appear on a page. I am not too sure on that because I have a crappy netbook so I do not want the loading speed to be as slow as it could be. I always keep running into these problems, especially in TdV, mostly when a new post pops up, 75% chance it's something I've already replied to (and 20% that it's not really that much to talk about to my end), so normally half of the time, I use the "New Posts and the other half is ding the traditional way (by looking on the boards)
