When you're live at a game should you ever boo your own team?  Or should you always cheer and support them?

warmaker : If they've done something rude or worthy of that boo, yes. But if they just messed up a play or fumbled a ball, then no. Only if they're being really unsportsmanlike.

I agree with Stephi. Any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct warrants a boo, in my opinion.

If they play dirty yes. If they play poorly then the worst iv seen is the crowd collectively sighing.
Booing them really just puts them under more pressure and they are more likely to screw up.
Really i dont think any side should be booed if they are playing fair.

In my opinion, if they cheat or they play dirty or in an sort of unsportsmanlike  conduct, then i think it is fine to boo. But only if they have done something dirty or worthy of a boo, otherwise, I see no reason to do so. I would normally support my team though and cheer them on, but if they were to do something against the rules or cheat or play in a foul way, then I would certainly not cheer and most people would probably just boo against them.

Good question by the way, I think a lot of people feel the same way about this.

If it's a mistake that team does, then they don't really deserve a boo, but if it's a player that gets the team a penalty, then yeah, they deserve a bit of a boo, especially if it's like an unsportsmanlike conduct.

Heck yeah it's okay.  If you pay good money to watch a team fail at a game, you should have the right to boo.

It depends on what the team does to make me boo at them. Like if they are really embarrassing themselves and if I am really disappointed then I would actually boo at them from disappointment.

People do that all the time, I even know a few people who have gone to the Giants game last week just so they can boo them, even though they were Giants fans.

It certainly is not, you should be respectful to your favourite team even if they played crap. For instance in football (soccer) I support West Ham United. They may have some very bad games but I do not boo them or down praise them, you should never do that. You can not expect your team to win every game (unless you support Bayern munich FC). I was over the moon when West Ham beat Spurs 3-0. My friends who are spurs fans were saying their team played really bad, I just said they played ok... BUT THEY CAN NEVER BEAT WEST HAM! Then they were not too happy with me.

I think it depends on what that team is doing. If they are cheating or someone is doing something stupid such as dropping the baseball after picking it up then I am OK with giving that team a boo.

I just want to see effort on the field.  If I see professional players who give up on plays, or don't care, I would consider booing.  Because they are paid professional athletes who make a lot of money, at the very least they owe the fans to play as hard as they can play.

I'm a diehard colts fan, and when Peyton went down, I stuck to them even after they started 0-13 and finished 2-14 on the season.  The players played hard, almost squeaking out a few wins here and there.  Now they've improved and things are looking up.  If you can't stick with them in their bad times, you shouldn't be there in their good times.

I am a huge Colts fan and Pacers fan and to my knowledge I have never booed them at a game I went to. I have never seen the Colts lose in person and the Pacers have a pretty good record with me watching I think like 10-4 or something like that. I don't go often obviously. Now there have been a few times that I wanted to boo them at home and jump through my tv and start laying the smack down. That usually happens during Pacer games when they miss free throw after free throw and then lose by like 1 or 2 points. That makes me want to boo.

Yes. If your team is doing bad, you need to let them know. The boos will be embarrassing to them and hopefully will make them want to step up their game.

Nope . Not for me anyway .  I always motivate Manchester United even if they are losing .  Once we lost 6 - 1 to our rivals Manchester City . That was hard but we did beat Arsenal 8 - 0 so Anytime my friends said we lost to City.  I bring up Arsenal

It is absolutely okay to boo at your own team.

If there was some dirty play, or unacceptable action done on the field/ice/court, etc. then yes, by all means boo.

Just don't be that guy or gal who boos at every little small mistake a player makes, because everyone makes mistakes, and you will happen to be making mistake if you are one of those people.

People want to have fun while playing a sport, and also watching as well.

Of course it's ok to boo your own team. If you notice your team is putting minimal effort into their play, and you lose 8-2, you have a right to boo. You payed good money to watch them play, and they have to put out their best effort.
Although, in the case of the Broncos game two weeks ago, where they were booing after a first half, is completely uncalled for. They were up, and I think they had two touchdowns. That should not happen.

I boo my team a lot. Almost every year my team looses every game. I'm not even kidding. Both football, and baseball teams come last, or very close to last, in the entire league. So it's okay to boo them if they put up little to no effort.

You can go two ways with this. If you boo them, it's probably not because they made a score, it's probably because they didn't make a score, so it's like telling them to do better. If you cheer them though it can go another two ways. If they player is stupid enough, they can just think it's OK to hit/shoot/kick badly, but if you cheer, and the player isn't stupid, they could acknowledge you and they can take it better.

What do I do? I just clap if they didn't make a score, like saying "Good try!" If they make a score, my mom goes crazy and I cheer for them.
