Meant to make this thread several days ago but go sidetracked.
For those didn't know, the Tough Mudder is a 11-mile obstacle course with around 22 obstacles. And, as the name implies, it is muddy. Very muddy. There is slippery mud, thick mud, sticky mud. We even had to jump 15 feet into dirty brown water. It was a lot of fun. I ran with a group of 5 others and by the end it was just me and the boyfriend of my girlfriend's friend. At the end everybody gets a Tough Mudder shirt, headband and nice plastic cup of beer (which was good after traveling 11 miles). I do have a some stories to tell, including a guy running in my heat wearing a Bane mask who lost his shoes a couple miles in and ran the rest of the course barefoot.

I encourage you to go on YouTube and look up some videos of it. Probably the most popular obstacle is the last one, Electroshock Therapy, in which runners go through a 50-foot barrage of hanging wires (which I guess are connected to a car battery. Needless to say, people get shocked running through, some of them get stunned and fall down and even a few are dragged out of it because they can't get back up You'll get a few laughs from watching. I also recommend, if you are at least 18, to give it a try next year if it's near your area. You will have fun.

I also came close to winning a phone from T-Mobile. Their stand was having a contest involving push-ups, the one-arm side stand/hold thing, and something else. I opted for the push-ups. Whoever could do the most in 1 minute would win a free phone. They had names of people and how many they did on a board. The highest was 84 push-ups. So the guys at the booth timed me and managed to do 105. After I ran the race, however, my friend told me that somebody had beaten me. By 1 push-up. Who the hell does that?! If you're going beat someone, do it with at least 4 or 5 push-ups. Don't snipe him by 1. I wasn't to happy about it, because now this dude has a free phone, unless someone beat him.

Anyone else do this event, or maybe considered

Wow that's awesome that you got to participate. Me and a couple other Marines are interested in doing that. I never knew about it until after joining the Marine Corps. I also want to try the Warrior Dash. I had a mud run a while back and the thing they caution you about is losing your shoes lol. How bad was the Electroshock Therapy for you?

I've actually heard of this event before, but I'm not sure where from. Maybe it was mentioned on vizzed somewhere?  Anyways, I can't tell you how much I wish I could do this.  I'm nowhere near the kind of shape I would need to be in, though... which makes me sad.  I envy the fact that you were.  LOL

How long did it take you?  What was your favorite part?

GAH I wish I could do this!

Cyro Xero : That sounds a pretty interesting course you went on and personally I don't think I can go a full 11 miles of muddy obstacles go through, like 22 of them all in that distance, sounds pretty tough, but at the same time, it sound like you had a lot of fun though, and you said you were close of winning, but you had more fun which is the best thing.

I am a pretty fit guy, I was on our school's football team (season ended sadly) and Hockey team. Yet I am nowhere near in shape for that! I hope to do it though, I love a challenge!

BluemageKyle : There were plenty of people there who weren't in the best shape and still did good. The obstacles aren't meant to hard, nor are they. Most of them consist of people climbing or crawling through lots of mud and water. Monkey bars and walls are there, too, some requiring teamwork. If you're as fit as you say you are then you should have no problem doing it, and it's not like you're running the entire time. Not even marathoners would have enough energy There are choke points where people are waiting in line to do an obstacle, so you're pretty much resting.

I haven't ran in months, and I was still better than everyone in my group. Not a problem.

Wow, that seems fun! Well, other than the electroshock therapy. I've always wanted to do a mud run/obstacle course. But, I'm probably not old enough.
