Ok in this thread I will give you an animal that is said to be extinct and you will tell me why you think it is or isn't extinct. Instead of making lots of threads with different animals I will change the animal every so often (probably when people stop posting about the animal we are on).

Today we are going to discuss the Thylacine more known by the name the Tasmanian Tiger.

The Tasmanian Tiger was said to go extinct in the 20th century. It was killed out be farmers at first for killing live stock. The government even put a bounty on its head. During the great depression people went looking for them out of desperation and none where found.

People have reported seeing the Tasmanian Tiger up to this day. I think it is very possible that this animal is alive and well, but it is pretty unlikely.

What do you think?

I think it may still be out there. People every once in awhile say they saw one. They may be alive, but just a very small amount of them. It's possible they are extinct though, but I think they are out there somewhere.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

I've never heard of the Tasmanian Tiger. I don't think there are that much though. If they claimed to see the Tasmanian tiger they should at least gotten evidence, still I said "that much" so maybe there's a small chance that they didn't die off.

B619ook : There are some pictures of this animal. Some of them are total fakes others look like they could be real.

Animals thought to have died over 10,000 years ago are found alive sometimes so its not a stretch that an animal said to have died out around 100 years ago is still walking around. They would have to be in small numbers and have learned how to hide from people better then they did before.

I think it is possible that it still exists. I don't think I have ever seen one, but I am terrible at identifying animals, so I may have and just not known it. It is very hard to tell if a species is completely extinct or not.

I think that it is very possible that there is a cave somewhere that leads down into the earth and has every kind of life, even some that we don't even know of.

Ok, we are going to move on to the next extinct? animal.

Megalodon! Megalodon was the shark that made Jaws look like a tadpole. No one is really sure how and when (if it did) go extinct. This was the biggest sea dwelling creature to ever live, its teeth was about 7in long! This beast was huge! It was thought to hunt the same way the great white shark does.

One of the whale species that Megalodon ate was thought to have gone extinct about 10000 years ago but one washed up on a beach. Other whales have washed up with half of their body gone. It looks as if it was one big bite that is missing from the whales.

I really don't think this shark is still alive, but I don't know, no one really knows. If you think it is out there tell me why, I would love to hear your opinions and if you don't tell me why you don't.

GenesisJunkie : I think they may exist still. There always have been stories of sea monsters. And sea exploration is harder than space exploration. So it may be somewhere down there. Maybe their bodies just get eaten when they die? I'm not sure. I doubt that physical incarnation of death and fear itself just dropped out of existence. But then again, maybe it did...I have no idea.
