Many people speaks good of this game, and I agree with them... until now.
The game was going great until the 5th badge. After conquering the 4th, you must wreck havoc in the Magma Building of Charpos. Once done, you're immediately teleported to Platepics, to talk to Mr Stone in the Research Center. After that, you must enter Polar Forest, that is, the entrance that was guarded by two Magma grunts just exiting Small Town. After completing it (no easy task I should say), you're teleported to the Torn World to search for Shaymin and capture it (my first ever shiny in any Pokemon game/generation). Then, you're teleported to Malias Town. Here is where the game says screw you.
Yes, Malias has the 5th Gym, but it must be said that you can only exit Malias by Surf. And you know what? Yes, you need the 5th badge to use it outside battle. This means that you're stuck in that town until you beat the Gym. Not much of a trouble. Really?
The 5th Gym focuses on Steel. Yes, an easy task for those that selected Chimchar as starter, or even Turtwig, but I chose Piplup. Being Steel-Type in its final evolution grants him some resistances, but its no use in this Gym. So, my Pokemon aren't levelled enough to beat the Gym, nor do they have any kind of superiority (being Fire-Type, for example). How am I supposed to beat the Gym? How can I beat a lv 42 Steel-Type with Pokemon below lv 35?

Edit: I've somehow been lucky enough so the Leader didn't use any Hyper Potion and my Gabite's Dragon Rage, with its 40 HP damage no matter resistances or weaknesses, did the rest. It was hard, so many tries, but I did it. Nevertheless, I think that this should remain for other players so they don't make the same mistake I did. Always try to level up a Pokemon that will get you the upper hand on the next Gym you face.

With all pokemon games and with all the rpg  games involve leveling up you have 2 do some level grinding. Especially with the pokemon games. I am not sure why this came as such a surprise 2 you. I have never played the game but surely their are some other fire types that you can find and use in a battle against a steel type monster.

I have not played the game, but I have planned on playing it once I beat Ash Gray, but I will make sure to take your advice, that sounds like it was torture.
