So I was playing my awesome Star Fox SNES that I recently ordered and received in the mail not too long ago (because i'm just a sucker for physical copies and I suck trying to use a keyboard on here for Star Fox XD) and after finishing off course 1 I jumped on course 2. Everything was fine, Titania was purely awesome (so is its music) as I remember and Sector X sure was a joy ride with debris. But there is one thing I didn't remember with Sector Y.

Uhh...Space Fish and Space Squids and GIANT manta ray?? I had to pause the game for a moment to confirm I was not losing my mind and sure enough: fish and squids swimming around in outer space as a huge manta ray is diving right at me because curiosity said "Fire! Shoot the giant flapping thingy!!" (i'm not listening to it anymore). Is it me or..is Sector Y trying really hard to be Aquas in Star Fox SNES?

What are your guys' thoughts on this whole thing?

zerothesaint :

They could be fishlike creatures that can travel through space.
I've heard of such things in space fantasies before. They probably
have no need of oxygen and have some kind of biological nuclear reactors
for organs that give them energy.

They could have been made into bioweapons by Andross.

Auquas may have been based off of sector Y (not the other way around
because this game came out first).

I think that the two may be connected.
Look at Titania in Star Fox SNES, it's snowy (through most of the level)
and has a weather control center that Andross has taken over.

I think that Fincha was based off of Titania.
(Maybe later Nintendo decided to rename Titania as Fincha, and
then they names a dessert planet Titania?)

A lot of stuff in this game seems to be odder versions
of stuff From Star Fox 64. Is Star Fox SNES even canon?

Sword legion : Well with the Sector Y and Aquas theory there, that's something I believe. They kind of wanted like a space odyssey type deal and thats what they through together or it was more difficult to make some kinda underwater level at the time?

Regardless, the story with Titania is that it was once a life filled planet that was quite prosperous and worshipped the lava creatures on Solar as a type of harvest god. Its believed that a wandering asteroid from the various asteroid belts went right at Titania and collided with it, completely changing the entire environment and burying the ancient ruins and such underneath. Some time after that Corneria comes across the planet and realizes that Titania has quite a bit of resources kinda like Macbeth. So they constructed a weather controlling device so the planet surface isn't as hostile.

If anything, Fichina COULD very well be based off of Titania but they decided an ice planet of some sort would do. As far as I can tell there isn't much of a history with Fichina and that its always been an ice ball planet until Corneria put a base there, Andross attacked, they took it back and built a terraform/weather control device to make the planet habitable.

Now this is what i'm guessing and this is something I can look into. I think Star Fox has 2 canon tracks. The first one would be Star Fox SNES leading to Star Fox 2 (sadly that never happened). And the second canon track is Star Fox 64 all the way to Assault. Umm...Star Fox Command is open to debate. Some believe it is canon while other think is a non-canon based game so we are very unsure for the most part. Again, something I could spend some time looking into if you'd like. I'll throw links up and stuff about Titania and Fichina if you like as well.

Did you guys ever notice the dried coral on Titania?
It's like it could have been a sea planet at one point in time
that dried up. (Or the area that you go through was once a sea anyways.)

Or, is that not coral?

Alrighty, Sector Y. I don't know if you guys remember or not but we had a big discussion go on about James McCloud and his disappearance theory in Star Fox SNES (which is a different canon track than what we have currently with Star Fox 64). Now i'm uncertain if the Nintendo Power comics based on Star Fox were being made at the same time but Sector Y in SNES is pretty much the development teams early ideas for a underwater level. However, it makes hints at the Nintendo Power comic of James helping Fox via a large whale that shows up in the level just before the boss if you save all the mind-controlled sting rays. It is noticed that the whale is some kind of special ship James got his hands on when he was sucked into the Black Hole. That's as much as I could really gather for the most part and I can grab the comics for proof if needed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Titania - In the original Star Fox it was pretty much an early version of Fichina with the weather control idea which meant Titania didn't really have that much history until Star Fox 64. in
Star Fox it was pretty much just a resource planet covered in unpleasant icy weather. In Star Fox 64 the history goes like this:

Long ago, no specific time and unsure of Corneria at the time, there was an ancient civilization that lived there on Titania. A very prosperous community at that who worshipped a being that lived on the planet (the very boss you fight in the Landmaster on Titania that has Slippy in its clutches). But, at some point in history it is speculated a very large asteroid, most likely from Meteo, ventured from the Belt and collided with Titania, destroying everyone and everything but the monster.

So there's that, the manga that goes with Star Fox has a little bit more to Titania but only after Andross' defeat. And as for that "coral" on the planet, that's a bunch of cacti, I believe.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fichina - Since there was no Fichina in the original Star Fox this planet saw the light of creation with Star Fox 64. This planet is based off of the early Titania from SNES Star Fox being all ice. Sadly, Fichina has no history with culture or anything tragic. Its just a giant ice ball with some frozen trees, they searched the planet but never found any other life, so it looked good enough to Corneria to try and terraform so they could make another garden planet and populate it.

But, the big key thing to Fichina is the base that was built there that is seen during the events of the Lylat Wars that contains the bomb. That base has no connection to any military personnel. It is actually a scientist research base built there to study the planet and perform early terraforming experiments. However, this base is also a key area because underneath it is a very special storage area that contain very important Corneria Army documents. This base was chosen for said documents due to the climate and idea that because of the harsh cold no enemy would really see much interest in it. Andross knew of these documents apparently and captured the base. It is unsure if he got the documents or not but that is pretty much why Star Wolf was involved.

After that its 8 years later and the weather controlling system is built on Fichina and the events of Star Fox: Assault takes place.

ANY QUESTIONS?!

I'm going to have to try going to sector Y myself
somtime when I'm playing Star Fox SNES.

So, is Star Fox SNES not canon?

It is but it isn't. Thats the difficult part. So let me break it down like this. So when Star Fox SNES came out that was THE canon for the whole thing. Then there were comics and stuff based around it as well and even an awesome manga (which i'm looking for currently). Then development of Star Fox 2 came into play. But then that was suddenly canned and we now just have the Beta.

N64 comes out and Star Fox 64 is born. Star Fox 64 is a completely rebooted and improved version of Star Fox SNES. The rest of the games follow the Star Fox 64 timeline.

So basically when Star Fox SNES came out it was the first timeline and sadly ended there because it was never continued further with Star Fox 2. Star Fox 64 is the second canon track (it being the new Star Fox SNES that was highly accepted more than Star Fox SNES) which at this point has become the only and real canon track remembered. So by todays standards, Star Fox SNES is no longer canon.

On a further note, it is said Star Fox Command is not canon to the Star Fox 64 series. But we will have to see if and when a new Star Fox game to come out for it to be rightly determined but who knows.

And yes, it is said Mr. McCloud was driving a space whale of some sort. If you like I could go find the really old comics and send you the link to them.
