In Star Fox 2, there are two ney characters that don't reappear
in the Star Fox series.

And they are:

Fay

    and

Miyu

My question is this:

What do you think of them, and do you wish that Nintendo would
have used them in an official game?

I'll wait a bit before I give my opinion.

Sword legion : Well, with a post I had earlier about new ideas and such, this would add into the idea of a larger and ever-expanding Star Fox team. I played the Beta of SF2 and I actually picked Miyu and paired myself with Fox. Needless to say I was a pretty unstoppable force and shut Andross down without Corneria taking hardly any damage. THAT ASIDE, they were two members that could've easily fit into the Star Fox team, given some more characterization. They also had their own type of Arwing which would've been a welcoming addition. 

I never had an issue with Nintendo sticking with the traditional team but would it kill them to..I don't know..not make the team "anti-social" and maybe scout for people with good piloting talent for such assignments and wars dealing with Andross? But it is what it is, I do know that one new character was included to the team aside from Krystal (after Star Fox Adventures leading into Assault) and then another member included in Star Fox Command but I don't think she was highly liked.

Star Wolf had a new member also, that being Panther to replace Pigma. So there is some hope that Nintendo may have future ideas to add a larger cast to the Star Fox universe and both teams possibly.

I was a big fan of Miyu and Fay in SF2, to the point where I use them exclusively in the game. Low health isn't even that much of a problem for me, as I rarely get hit. They're so easy to use in the game, plus the fact that they're the only females on the team in the game, I would love to see them make a comeback at some point.

Darn it, Nintendo. Why'd you design this for the SNES so close to the N64's release?

I would definitely like to see Fox attempt to get new team members.
I kinda wish that your team would expand or something as you played 
throughout the games, ie you pick p a new mercenary at Zoness and
he stays with your team for the rest of the game.

Alternate paths, offer different mercenaries.
Refusing help from earlier mercenaries means you 
will get offers from more talented mercenaries later.

Sword legion : The mercenary concept is one i've always mused and wondered why something like that was never really included for Star Fox 64. With that big of a war and crisis with Andross on everyone's heels with his fleets moving towards Corneria, you think General Pepper would be calling in help from all over. If Andross can have mercenaries galore, why not Star Fox or the Cornerian army?

Honestly having Miyu and Fay in the game could've been so much more interesting if they had character development. And heck, why not have them and Krystal? The more expansive team the better. More talents to offer out, varied ships for each pilot. Each member of Star Fox has their own attitude and story and that makes characters likable, its what draws players in half of the time, as long as the game and plot doesn't completely suck. The biggest example is Falco, because people just love him. He has the cocky attitude and skills to back him up even though at times he can be a...uhh...*ahem* unsavory ally..but he gets the job done and that's what counts.

I think a lot of people like Krystal mostly because she serves the love interest role for Fox. I'm kinda meh on the whole ordeal.  I like Krystal but it was an odd transition from Star Fox Adventures to Star Fox Assault with her, at least it was for me. Her skills are 50/50. She can get into much trouble like Slippy but has the skills to actually hunt down enemies. (Sorry Slippy, you're still a great engineer though)

But adding new people in is seriously something Nintendo should consider the next time they decide to pick up the Star Fox series and make sure they have a good story to them and find ways to make them likable.
