Here are the rules of the game;
You are only allowed 1 Pokémon, from the Evolved forms of Generation 1 Starters..
They cannot use HM moves, such as Surf, or Fly.
You must survive on the island for nearly a whole year, before you are found by other Pokémon trainers.

Bulbasaur - Ivysaur - Venusaur can all forage for Fruits, provide shelter, and help with 'hard to reach' things.
Charmander - Charmeleon - Charizard can keep you warm, provide light and assist in scare tactics to defend you from prowling beasts.
Squirtle - Wartortle - Blastoise can provide you with an unlimited source of Fresh water, assist with fishing, and keeping you clean from risk of unhygienic diseases.

Remember though, all have their disadvantages.... What happens if there is a Forest Fire, The Island Floods, or there is a Catastrophic Thunderstorm?

I'll start this off.

Personally I would choose Charizard. He might have had his 'wings clipped' but he can use them to blow a gust of wind to divert a Forest Fire, if the Island floods, I can return him to his Pokéball, and the same with there being a Thunderstorm. His strength alone, would help with Felling tree's so that I could build a small enclosure, to keep myself safe.

Would anybody else do the same as me, if so, what reasons do you give? Be creative. I'm looking for some really good things here.

Uryu-Phill : I'd chose Bulbasaur. Mainly, because I can't hug the fire type pokemon, and I don't want to eat fish until help arrives. Normally I like fire and water types in the video games, because they are stronger and better in my option, but when it comes to survival it's always good to have someone who knows what is poisonous and what isn't and can help me build a very good shelter. I would totally be okay with living on fruit for long periods of time. Now if there is a flood, I can hold onto Bulbasaur, while it takes me to higher ground. If there is a thunderstorm I'll be nice and dry in our well built shelter and be able to cuddle Bulbasaur so we both feel safe. The only problem would be a forest fire, though it is very unlikely to occur since lighting rarely strikes trees, and Bulbasaur can't breath fire. Hmmm... I guess me and Bulbasaur could make a raft and have it staked into the shore so it doesn't drift away and wait out the fire, but we'd also have stored lots of food on the raft so if we decided to leave the island, or we float away with the raft during the fire, well have plenty to eat. I'd try to learn to make fire with two rocks or two sticks to make a fire. Maybe, I could use Bulbasaur's solar beam or is that a HM move? I'd figure something out, if nothing else cover ourselves with warm, giant grass blankets. As for the salt water that we would have to make fresh water... To bad Bulbasaur doesn't have one of those moves that clears status effects (that I know of) we might be able to use that to clean the water and purify it. I would have to somehow made fire on the island purify a bunch of water and put it on the raft, so we could survive. So, my chances of survive with Bulbasaur are much great with the others, because we could make a raft and leave the island. That's why I choose Bulbasaur.

Well I think there's a thread already like this but I think the best decision would be either tropius since it has fruit on it's head. That pretty much it since I don't know any other Pokémon that'll help me when I'm on the island. Just thought of one right now. I can choose torterra since I can hide under the tree whenever it gets to sunny out.

I t would be my Sceptile definitely. I have a bond with my emerald starter. I got it to level 100 and the Pods on its back are actually a sweet tasting fruit I think  

I would choose Venesaur. I would survive longer with food in my stomach than just fresh water or brute strength protection.
Yes, Charizard's a beast and will protect you from nearly everything, but I don't see it helping me get food.
Blastoise giving me fresh water is nice, can't live without water.
But Venesaur, he would help me with food, food with water in it (watermelon, etc.), get things in hard to reach places (as you said), and as for protection, well lol. Stun spore, poison spore, solar beam, razor leaf...umm, I think Venesaur can protect me well enough.
However, the forest fire's gonna be a tough one for Venesaur to handle. As for shelter, Venesaur is almost a shelter himself - his big leaves on his back, lol.
Blastoise though, is pretty close. Assisting with fishing, that's great! Help me sustain my health, keep me hydrated, that's awesome. Lack of fish, then what? Moreover, lack of fire (what if I don't know how to make one, constant rain, etc.) - can't cook the fish. Of course, the argument is water vs. Food. Water you need, but food gives you energy, and in many cases, food has water in it too. 

Btw, Mr. Zed, Sceptile is not Generation I lol.

man they are all good but i would choose charizard he can fly and cook food for you and because he would defend you for blastoise is good too he can swim give you water because its important and venusaur cool that he can give you fruits but id go with charizard hes my favorite fire type and good post bro i like it 

I would definitely choose the Squirtle line.

Realistically, you can't cook or grow your own food/vegetables without fresh water. And if for some reason its difficult to locate a spring or something, you're screwed.

I don't mind eating fish, and I can actually hunt on my own decently well. So between that I think i'd have a steady food supply coming in.

During a fire, obviously he would be amazing. Floods wouldn't be an issue either, since while he can't Surf away from the island, I can still ride on his shell to safety.

Thunderstorms would be a bit tricky, but since Lightning will only strike the tallest structures I would find a cave or the lowest point on the island and hope for the best.

The disease thing is a big one, and what clinched it for me. You can be all fine and dandy using your Charizard to rip through any opposing animals, or having Venusaur keep you fat with its knowledge of food. But that isn't helpful at all if you suddenly get some jungle illness or rare disease that can cripple you or worse.

blastoise...simple

It can shoot fruit down with high water pressure than all i have to do is get the seeds out plant them and blastoise can do the rest with water assuming that the island has enough rainy days and sunny days 

It can stop fires with it 

Lighting usually hits the tallest creature all you have to do is find a cave although since its a island i assume caves will be hard to find 

You say i cant use surf well you do know that blastoise can just float with me on top right...?...they float....they all float(if someone can tell me where thats from i will do a review on any pokemon they want here is a hint IT made me afraid of sewers and dairy Maine when i was a kid

Blastoise charizard and venasaur can all defend themselves all blastoise would have to do is shoot the creature will high water pressure enough to blast it off the island and drown i will never have to deal with it again....Dark 

Hard to reach things,,.okay are we running on a little bit of cartoon logic if you say yes keep reading....okay this maybe tricky but cant blastoise just shoot me up with water pressure and cant blastoise just do the same thing with the fruit and shoot it down,.?
