Chess - the Game of Kings, I had this game years ago when I was at school
I was starting off learning the game, to be honest, it's a functional Chess title - nothing special, but it 'does the job!'

The Graphics are functional for a Game Gear title, the sampled speech is dreadful, I don't need a running commentary each time I move such as "white" and "black" each time a coloured piece moves.

I would like to have seen a tutorial mode, and perhaps several Chess Puzzles..

Not a bad game for the beginner, but the learned or skilled 'Chess Master' won't get a lot out of it

Yeah. I much preferred the ChessMaster 5000 for PC. Same developers and all.  But there were different difficulty levels, and the ChessMaster difficulty was near impossible. It is pretty much exactly like playing that famous Chess Computer. You had time clocks like a real match. The opponent literally took anywhere from 2-5 minutes to make a single move because it was processing every possible move to make the one that would logically lead to the best outcomes. I never beat that mode. It was too insane. I could beat the second to hardest difficulty level, but that one sometimes could have me pretty much beat in a dozen moves (the fastest I was ever beaten by it was 17 moves).
