To start I'd like to say this is my first walkthrough/review of a game here on Vizzed, so I apologize in advance if it isn't that good. This walkthrough is going to run in parts. This first part will run from the beginning of the game to the end of Viridian City. Comments and concerns are welcome, I'll try to answer with what I know about this game.

We start our adventure with Professor Oak asking us if we're a boy or a girl, our name, and the name of our rival before appearing in our room. The only thing of interest here is the PC, which contains a potion. I suggest nabbing it before leaving in case you need it for the starter battle (don't laugh, its happened to me before.)

Heading downstairs and outside, you'll notice the old lady standing beside the only way out of Pallet Town. She'll scold you for not having parent's permission to leave if you try, so don't bother just yet. You'll also notice the new Pokemart blocked by the small tree and a large, fenced in area with Pokemon connected to Oaks Lab.

Inside the lab, you'll find that we were too late to start our adventure. All the starting Pokemon have been taken and the only thing left to take is a Pikachu. Before leaving, you'll be instructed to talk to the aides and will recieve Pokeballs and the Pokedex if you do.

Remember that potion I mentioned was in the PC? It's going to come in handy because once you step back outside, your rival will want to battle. He has a Squirtle 2 levels higher than our Pikachu, but it's still no match for Pikachu's Thundershock. Zap him a few times and heal with the potion if necessary. Fainting him gives you 99xp (enough to level up and learn Tail Whip) and 112 dollars.

After a brief rant, your rival will disappear. Talk to your proud mother in the middle of the town to get your Running Shoes. Now you're finally able to run past that old lady and onto Route One.

Route One is nothing special, it contains your average low-level Pidgeys and Rattatas. Catch a new team member or kill everything in your sight, it's up to you. The man in red works for the Pokemart, so you can nab another free potion by talking to him.

Exiting the route, instead of leading to Viridian City, directs you straight to rainy Route Two. Head right for the gap and you'll be attacked by a wild Spearow. You can catch it or fight it for some meager XP. The Pokemon League is directly to your left, but ignore it for now and focus on making your way to the lady in front of the pool. You will be attacked by another Spearow, this one stronger than the last, on your way.

Reaching the girl and talking to her reveals her to be Misty.... who you steal a bike from immediately afterwards. Continue riding and pick up the Pokeball that contains another potion before heading down into the grass again and out the other side. Yet another Spearow will attack, once again stronger than the last. When you beat it, you see an 'unidentified' Pokemon fly across the screen in a short cut-scene.

Exit Route Two and you will finally find yourself in Viridian City. A very different Viridian City than what was in the original game. A long canal of water is in front of you, but head directly south. You'll be stopped by a girl (Officer Jenny, I think) who comments on your tired Pokemon and will lead you to the front of the Pokemon Center.

Talking to the boy in front of the bookshelf inside the Pokemon center will bring up a few pictures of the legendary birds and the 'legendary' dog Arcanine. Heal up and go back outside. Don't try any of the houses since all of them are locked. The boy running in the flowers has something to say to you about Team Rockets headquarters. There's a wide open space close to the city's exit called Viridian Park and no grumpy old man in sight.

Next post: Viridian Forest and Pewter City.

Part Two: Viridian Forest and Pewter City

Sorry for the long delay, my computer crashed and deleted my savefile. It didn't take long to get back to where I was, but it was disheartening. I'd like to thank tgags123 and Barathemos for the support.

We last left off at the exit of Viridian City. You remember the Pokedex you were supposed to grab from Professor Oak's aides? I hope you did because the police officer waiting there won't let you pass without it. Double back if you have to and pay attention next time.

The trees that normally block you from those tantalizing Pokeballs are gone, so feel free to grab the Paralyz Heal before fighting the youngster for another 96 dollars. After this, you can enter the forest proper.

Viridian Forest has changed very little from what it was in Firered/Leafgreen. You have one mostly linear path with few trainers/random goodies spread about, a LOT of annoying Weedles determined to Poison Sting your entire team, and a overwhelming desire to get the hell out of here as fast as possible. So stock up on some Antidotes if you'd like and get going.

Take the right path all the way up first, either fighting or avoiding the bug trainer, for a free Pokeball. You can head left and down through the grass or avoid all of that and just backtrack. Now head left and up. You'll notice there's no bug trainer here, but there is a very nice Potion just lying around. You are going to need it because Team Rocket (yes, THAT Team Rocket) will be waiting for you.

Prepare for trouble indeed. And by trouble I mean one Level 5 Ekans, one Level 5 Koffing and one Level 5 Meowth. You will earn 60 dollars after you win, and you can see the rest of the Team Rocket intro if you chose to talk to Jesse and Meowth in the overworld. Head left and up to the Samurai House. Talking to the bug trainer in front reveals he has been searching for you and a battle starts. The Bug Catcher Samurai has some strong bugs, including a surprise Pinsir at level 8. I didn't have a problem with it, but if you are try catching one of the early flying types and leveling it up some. After winning, the Samurai will state the obvious about Weedles and give you one Repel.

You'll encounter one trainer with a Level 8 Bulbasaur and a Charmander. There's another Pokeball with an Antidote and one last trainer before the exit. Leaving the forest, you'll step out onto the end of Route 3. No big grass for you, sorry, but at least you can heal up at the Pokemon center.

Part Three: Pewter City's Gym

Again, sorry for the long delay. Walkthroughs may be serous business, but reality comes first on my list of things to do.

In Pewter City you will notice that it is basically the same as the original game, but there are a few key differences. There is now a large space filled with rocks in the middle of the city with an NPC, Flint, blocking the space. Talk to him to learn a way to 'power up' and beat Brock. Apparently we need to got to a generating station, more on that in a moment. Talking to him also reveals a little bit about Brock's past. His nine brothers and sisters all live in a house a little ways to the left of Flint.

Above the Pokemart is a small building labeled the Pewter City Power Plant. Go inside and you'll come face to face with a Voltorb. The scientist is fairly useless, but the non-scientist NPC will happily give you a free Light Ball which you can give to your Pikachu for a raise in Sp. Atk.

Head back outside and go to the path leading to Route 4. You will be happy to note that the NPC who prevented you from leaving in FR/LG is no longer there, so feel free to explore to the tunnel entrance where a different Team Rocket NPC will be blocking your way.

This will leave you with no choice but to fight Brock. Buy some potions if you want and enter the Gym. That youngster from the original is now one of Brock's siblings. Demolish his level 10 Zubat and Vulpix for some more money and experience before going ahead to face the big guy.

Brock himself is pretty tough. He has a level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix and, at this point, there isn't much else to do than to level grind. If you're really struggling with his battle, try raising up a Caterpie until it evolves and learns Confusion. Or you can go back and to speak to Misty. She'll forgive you for the bike theft and challenge you to a battle. If you win, you'll get an Old Rod and can fish for a Magikarp. After you beat Brock, he will give you a free TM.

(EDIT: Next post is unlikely to happen since the game has been removed. Sorry about that.)

Jygin : I'm afraid I can't really continue this walkthrough (which was unlikely to happen to begin with after my long hiatus) due to the game being removed. I'm glad to see you were able to get some use out of it however!
