About a day ago I RedHotToddy reviewed the first of many Kirby games made by Nintendo, Now I have a surprise for you guys today! This time, I am now reviewing the full real new and improved sequel to the hit game, This is Kirby's dream land 2 for the gameboy, Will this game be better then the last one? Let's see and find out!
Story-7/10
The plot this time is that in the land of dreamland one day, An evil being known as Dark matter has now stolen these so called rainbow bridges that are supposed to connect these seven rainbow islands! Kirby, accompanied by 4 of his animal friends must solve this dilemma and defeat dark matter!
Gameplay-8/10
Gameplay in this game is much like Kirby's dream land one, except there is so much more added to this sequel! The first addition is that Kirby can now officially swallow enemies and copy their abilities! The second newest addition is that Kirby can also now use some of his animal friends to help him get across sticky situations. Each of the levels in this game are not just standalone levels with a boss at the end unlike the first game, instead the levels in each world are now connected by a hub, which is a huge plus! Each world consists of 3 levels and a boss, the 3 main levels are just standard platfoming, while the boss level puts you against a tough boss battle that will take alot of skill to beat. Like the last game, Kirby will be battling alot of enemies in his journey, such as waddle doo, that plasma guy, etc. Anyways, that is it for the graphics!
Graphics-8/10
The graphics in this game have improved alot since what we saw last time! Kirby's dream land 1 looked pretty amazing for the first game in the entire series, but this one has alot going on! The HUD is changed, the level design has changed, yeah, you get the point! All the levels you will be exploring are big, happy, and a blast to explore. As for the characters, they are pretty cool as well, Kirby is a cute little marshmallow guy who can swallow people can copy their moves, Rick the hamster is a good use of transportation for those slowed paced action levels, and so on!
Sound-7/10
Even better then what we got last time, All the levels and worlds in this game have bright and happy music that really suits the mood of each level as the game progresses. As for the sound effects, they are pretty spot-on as well! You get your sound like enter door, fire laser beam, float in the air, etc. Although some of the songs in this game can get a LITTLE repetitive, It is really no big, as the music is a joy to listen to.
Addictiveness-8/10
You won't believe how much fun I had with this game back when I first played it! I played it nonstop, in the car, under a blanket, you name it! The game is so good it even became a Gameboy best seller within weeks of release! The game has alot charm that just makes you want to come back for more and more stuff!
Depth-8/10
This sequel is quite longer and bigger then the first one that is, There are about 7 worlds in the game, each with 4-6 levels, so the game will probably take you about 2-4 hours to beat, There are still no subgames to play from the menu yet, which is really sad, Let's get a move on sequels!
Difficulty-6/10
I had tons of fun with Kirby's new adventure, But the game is just like It's predecessor, It is too flipping easy! I remembered getting down with this game with only like 25 extra guys left, I know the later Kirby games today offer alot of more challenge though!
Overall-8.5/10
I would rate this game on the RedHotToddy rewards as best sequel ever, But that is pushing it too hard, But anyways, this game rocks and I highly recommend you buy it! I gave this game a 8.5 because how much fun it was! This has been RedHotToddy, And I'm signing out everyone! By next week If I keep this up, I should have 100 reviews!
