Good day folks.

Anyways I was browsing through the internet looking for some information on a personal topic (which I won't discuss as its private) and I happened to come upon this story.

If anyone has watched the show "Jeopardy" you would know that its a game show where 3 contestants answer questions to achieve money. Jeopardy also has special events like "Children's Week", "College Week", and "Celebrity Week". This story takes place during the "Children's Week" where young kids are the contestants and answer questions for money. The "Final Jeopardy Question" (which if anyone doesn't know is like the Final Question of the Game) had a question about what document Abraham Lincoln signed in which he said that it was "necessary". The answer to the question is the Emancipation Proclamation. The 1st contestant got the question wrong (she guessed the Second Amendment). The 2nd contestant got the question right...

Well not exactly, the kid got the question wrong because he wrote "Emanciptation Proclamation" instead of "Emancipation Proclamation" (he basically added an extra t.) So the kid lost about 3,000 dollars.

The final contestant (who had 30,000 dollars and won 66,600) wrote Emancipation correctly and received more money. Now the kid who misspelled Emancipation is saying that he got cheated out of 3,000 dollars because he misspelled Emancipation.

So what are you guys thoughts about this?

A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something.

If he mispelled a word, then that's just the kids own fault,  Overall you aren't supposed to get money for Having mispells, on games shows like jeopardy

Also, had he spelled the word right, he would have lost anyway.  THe other kid was up 20,000 dollars or more.  The incorrect answer didn't change the final winner.

I feel bad for him but the producers of Jeopardy treated him fairly.

No. Alex was right. If he accepted the answer, then he'd be accepting all kinds of ludicrous answers. Spelling is an aspect you need for Jeopardy. You don't have it? Too bad for you. It's in the contract. Plus, the guy had no chance of winning. Skyler (was that his name? I remember watching...) had over 66k in the end.

I would like to feel sorry for the guy, but them's the rules. If you don't spell it right, it's incorrect. Just like in school. Anyway, he was loosing anyway, so why should he be so upset? If they accepted misspellings, then that wouldn't give the people deserving of the prize a fair shot at it. There would be too many people still in. Not only that, but they would have to define what qualifies as an "acceptable misspelling" and what doesn't. Because if they accepted anything then I could go on, be asked the same thing, and write "Emansipattion Proclaimation" and win the prize money over the person who spelled "Emancipation Proclamation" and entered a second afterwards. How fair would that be? Anyway, that's just my two cents on the subject.
