I have never managed to capture a shiny Pokémon, but that is also completely because I have never even seen one. I could have figured that I would be able to find eventually, but that turned into only finding the same old Pokémon. I think I have managed to put in a combined three thousand hours into all the Pokémon games I have played, so I do not know if I am either extremely unlucky, or just horrible.

I've only caught a shiny Trevelant, but shinies have been easier to find in Gen VI with chaining, fishing, and the chance of finding it is halved. With hatching, I have 7 shinies with the luxurious Japanese goo called Ditto.

I'm not sure how many I captured but I can tell you it's not that much because they're hard to find. On Pokemon X and Y they have an item to help you find shinies but it don't help me that much.  I had both games and it never helped me. I don't remember finding a shiny in Red Blue and Yellow probably because they haven't introduced shinies yet

I've never found or caught a shiny. Well I guess we've all caught the 'shiny' gyarados in silver and gold. I've heard that breeding is a good way to get shinies and that there is a way of chain fishing to get some as well. I haven't found any with the item in x and y, but didn't really try that hard yet. I'm planning on doing a lot more breeding and wonder trading so I'm hoping to get a shiny soon. I've seen a lot of other people run into shinies in let's play videos and it makes me feel like I'm incredibly unlucky. It could be that I might have come across some while not paying attention and never noticed which would suck so much. 

Well hopefully all of us will have good luck getting a shiny soon!

Only started finding them in Gen VI, and all of the ones I've found were in the friend safari.
Swagmortar, Diggersby, and one I can't remember due to instantly trading it for a shiny Clawitzer.  I also got a shiny Flygon through trading.

I have captured a grand total of 12 pokemon all of which are from pokemon x and I have chain fished for, I have caught: 1 goldeen, 1 gyarados, 1 politoed (from a poliwhirl) 1 poliwrath, 1 seadra, 1 clawitzer (I technically caught 2 but gave one away), 1 whiscash, and 5 claunchers I am hoping to give away to anyone who has a shiny staryu or relicanth. I plan to spend today looking for more, and I am also planning on trying to collect a ton more during the summer because they look so awesome and I am tired of seeing people make youtube videos of all their cool shiny pokemon! I also hope to pick up on the poke radar method which looks really complicated as well....
