It drives me insane when I hear some of the crap gamers say. I guess I'm talking about gamers my age in some respects. Its rare for a kid to be retro maniac. Here are some of the most intelligent statements some people have made when I was around.

Me: What is the first game console
other person: THE GAMEBOY
Me (Thinking): Really.


Another Gameboy line.


My Teacher: What would it be like to live in 1910
other person: Oh! Oh! That's when the Gameboy Advance came out. (This happened 2 years ago)
Me, and my friend: The first Gameboy came out in the late 80s. The Gameboy Advance came out in 2001.

One more! Game Gear this time

Me: (Playing my Game Gear during a year end basketball game)
stranger: Did that come from the 1800s?

I know its just lack of info. But anybody would know that video games were not existent back in the 1800s. That one is obvious.
So does it annoy you when people say stupid incorrect facts about video games?

Yes. Yes it does.    But sometimes you have to ignore people in order to keep peace and harmony. You know what I mean ?

Mr. Zed : Yeah I know what you mean. Usually I ignore those kinds of comments. Some of them are so off, that I can't help but respond though. I usually do a polite comment back saying that is off. 

I can't help but think that last one was a joke though. It seems like a joke to me.

Actually, now that I've reread the examples again, they all sound like they were joking to me. Provided that the said it the same way you typed it that is.

Lots of gamers say things that are rumors and not facts. It happens all the time.

The examples you gave are beyond that though. If anyone thinks that portable electronic video game systems were released in the 1800's or early 1900's...well then their problem is that they need to pay more attention in school AND READ A LOT MORE lol because that's just crazy.

Most of the time these are creepypasta myths and stories,that we all should know are fake. But some look real, and have cunning evidence but the whole thing is fake. For instance, a lot of gamers were tricked into think there was a haunted copy of Majora's Mask for the N64. Long story short there was a boy called Ben who drowned and someone deleted his save and then Ben got his revenge by haunting the game. Now a lot of people believed this because it was backed up with a few well made game-play (which was fake)

This is scary stuff real or not! but a lot of Gamers and just web browsers were quite annoyed that this thing ended up fake. Just like you were saying Video Game rumors and myths are very annoying. Why do people do it? Well just to troll as you may guess. just ignore it and just keep in mind they are just wasting there own time (could flame about trolls but it's against the rules of the site)

Yes it does annoy me when gamers do that. They're trying to sound smart but that just makes them sound stupid.

The worst "gamer fact" I've ever heard was that the human eye can only see 30 FPS. Therefore, games don't need to run at 60 FPS.

Really, though. I haven't heard anything more outrageous than that. The Game Gear thing sounded like a joke, actually. It is a pretty big handheld...

I have only heard something like that once, but it was with a really little kid.  He took one look at the NES and asked "Is that the first Wii?".  Which in a way, I don't blame him as it kinda of technically was "the first Wii".  I barely hear anything like this but I guess I am a little bit older.  

Depends on what they say. Here are some good ones:

N64 was the first 3D system. Wrong. PSX was before N64, and even it wasn't the first. I think the first was the 3DO.

The atari 2600 only had an eight color pallette. Wrong again. It actually had a 256 color pallette. A far cry from 8, no? Though it is true that some that were released overseas only had 8.

And "XBox is better than Playstation". Wrong a third time...well, ok, that last one may just be my personal opinion. I'm a self proclaimed Sony fanboy. I just had to say that one.
