Chikorita:oh this little creature is hands down the worst starter in the game although it is the most defensive which...i guess is a good side but it trades high special def and def for low stats in other areas and also get this it has no advantage at any gym in the johto region  yeah have fun with that...*Sigh* alright though lets try to see the good sides about this...thing well i guess it has an advantage among other starters early on because it gets razor leaf at level 8 so that will be your main move for a while because all you will learn for a while are somewhat useless moves such as reflect at level 12 and poison powder at level 15 also synthesis at level 22 but screw it we all know you wont let it stay a chikorita for ever and just let it evolve at level 16 so whatever lets move on from that at level 16 you get bayleef  a somewhat better version of chikorita with slightly improved stats and guess what thats all that will change moveset wise the only decent move you get is body slam at level 31 so once again use that damn razor leaf it will help you out alot survive that and you get meganium at level 32 and it still dosent get that much better because the only move you get after that that can actually do damage is solarbeam...okay you might be thinking hey relinquish whats wrong with that solar beam is a good move OH REALLY FOOL well you get solar beam at level 61 yep freaking 61 just for that move *SIGH* alright fine time for final thoughts

Final thoughts:i guess this pokemon could be useful despite everything i said but here is the thing its only good if you can have a decent team to back it up your rival will be tough though and that first gym will be brutal if you dont get that onix or geodude i wouldnt even bother to take this thing to the elite 4 but hey it is possible just watch out for those flying and fire types my suggestion take that mareep and that onix as soon as possible but if you can survive all the gyms your rival and the elite 4 i must admit it gets slightly easier in kanto i mean you can beat brock and mistly with just a few razor leafs oh yeah thats another thing i didnt get to mention use your tms on this thing it will help alot all in all this is venasaur down graded its slows it attack sucks and it can only be effective with a expert player and a good team so yeah i guess it can work but once again you will have to be smart

Final Rating:3/5

relinquish022 : I have used all 3 starters at one point or another, Totodile was my 1st and Chikorita was my last. I have to say, your perception of some of the moves couldn't be more off. Why on earth would you deem REFLECT useless when it's the only move of its kind in this game. Also, because Whitney's MILTANK. Imagine Chikorita taking almost no damage and replenishing that with Synthesis. Yeah you just gotta choose your moveset wisely, especially at the beginning when you don't have many TMs to use. I remember using the Clone Items/Pokémon with the PC glitch to obtain endless amounts of everything including TMs, so as soon as you obtain Solarbeam the TM and reach a Pokémon center, you can begin cloning the Solarbeam TM, and PRESTO! Teach to Meganium and no more waiting. With Solarbeam in there and Synthesis I recommend teach it Sunny Day and using it often, so Solarbeam works every turn with out charging, and so Synthesis fully heals Meganium. The 4th move is up to your needs or style. All in all, yes Meganium is not a Character to be used alone, it's a support Pokémon not meant to be used alone, especially vs the Elite 4 because of the limited PP on the moves and limited attack options in proper movesets.
