Umm, okay. So I've decided to do a ROM Hack review that's an unknown ROM that's very interesting, let's say that! xD. Enjoy the content below.Story:8.7/10
So this is a bit different than your average story line to the Mario saga. Boon is the main character with a cat face, and Mario's attire. A cat kidnaps a little girl which you have to rescue. The story doesn't tell us who the girl really is, but basically this is LIKE Mario, but the levels sort of change the story around here. So this adventure is a bundle of other games. I will be getting more into this into the Depth category, but I just want to say...this adventure...is not like your average Mario game. So Boon has to defeat a bunch of absurd creatures and enemies to save the little girl. But can all the not-so-cakewalk levels stop him from doing so?
Depth:9.9/10
So this game...has got to be one of the best ROM's I have ever played. I would really recommend checking this ROM out in the RGR., and I'll get into more of what this is. So all the enemies are retextured, the levels are a LOT harder, there's textures from other games, and there is a Donkey Kong Country level that has barrels that shoot you, etc. First off, this ROM is by Viper. This ROM is in Japanese, so all the dialog is in Japanese, but the controls are the same as the original SMW game. To go over with the textures for the items, Mushrooms are now apples. And the Fire Flower is tofu with green Japanese writing on it. The cape is a...chicken wing. That's what you'll find in this ROM: Lots of humor. I'll try to describe the enemy retextures...but it's hard. So the goombas are old people that you can toss and throw, koopas are white blobs with happy faces, the Rexes are these things that are white with long legs. You'll have to just play the ROM to get a better image at these. That Hammer Bro that sits on the flying blocks is a cat preacher who throws scrolls instead of hammers, there's a lot more to this adventure. So, about the game references... the last level is a reference to the Donkey Kong Country game. It has the SAME mechanics as the game, so I'd feel bad for Viper. He had to program this by himself. There's Donkey Kong, Earthbound, Skyward Sword, and Doki Doki Panic. As I have mentioned... the levels are a lot harder than your average Mario. Even World 1, only good gamers should be able to beat this world. It's the first world, but viper wants to just mess with you by making your worst nightmare: A game that's so fun, so hard, and you just HAVE to beat it.
Difficulty:6.5/10
So as you can see I gave the difficulty an...OKAY rating, but this game... has got to be the hardest game I've played. It's probably harder than Kaizo. Not at first, but when you get past World 3, it is. There's this level on World 1 with this shell that you have to follow the whole time, so it doesn't despawn to complete the level. You have to do a lot of parkour that's insanely difficult. And I found this walkthrough of VIP 4 on this guy's channel, and if you were to watch this, your ratings on the difficulty would probably be worse than mine:

Graphics:10/10
Some of the levels just have regular Mario world textures, but some of the levels have great textures. When you see some of the levels with custom textures... you just want to keep playing the ROM. Otherwise in some levels, the graphics are the same as the regular Super Mario World. The textures are from other games, which puts fun in the ROM, because it's like playing other games INSIDE of Super Mario World. And on one of the pictures from the ROM above show one of the levels of why I rate the graphics a 10/10. End of story.
Addiction:9.4/10
Despite all the hard levels, this can be a pretty addicting ROM to mess around with. It has good levels, good new character design, and all of it.. just makes you want to keep playing it. This has the references to good games, you can just tell Viper put a lot of work into this, and also, he took the time to make VIP 1, VIP 2, and VIP 3. All of those ROMs are his creations. So the other fact that you're playing something made by a hard working man makes you want to get even more addicted to the gameplay and such.
Overall:9.8/10
As you can tell, I'm in love with this ROM. But there is a FEW downsides. The levels are a bit TOO hard, and that's the only problem I had with this ROM. (You now have noticed I skipped Sound. The sound is the same as in SMW, so there's no point, but to shorten it, 8.7/10) Again, check this out in the RGR room. It'll probably the best Mario ROM you'd play in your life. (Well my opinion, just saying) So, this has been my review of Super Mario World - VIP 4! I hope you enjoyed the review, and good luck to all.
