I grew up without a lot of money. Got the good old NES in 1991, well after it came out. I got the SNES in 1995, way after it came out (With Zelda: LttP and FF3{US} -best x-mas ever for a nerdy 10 year old?-). That was it for me until I got old enough to work and buy my own things.

My best friend as a kid didn't have that problem. NES, Master System, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, N64... you name it, he had it. Had all the games, controllers, I mean everything. But then he moved when I was like 10.

That being said... I played a lot of games as a 6-10 year old that now are only a dream-like memory. Especially Genesis...

So my 2 questions to you are:

Besides Sonic, Phantasy Star and Shining Force.....(I have beat these games into the ground recently)

What are your top hand-full of games?
What is the best RPG?

 - Long intro for 2 pretty short questions, eh?-

My top five games for the Genesis are as follows:

I had to include the Shining Force games, sorry :-).

Shining Force II
Sonic 3
Sonic 2
Shining Force
Ristar

I didn't particularly care for the Phantasy Star games.

The best RPG out of the Shining Force and Phantasy Star games is probably Landstalker.

Don't worry the GenesisJunkie is here to help!

Platformers- Sonic the Hedgehog2, Rocket Knight Adventure, Ristar, Revenge of the Shinobi, Tinhead, Toejam and Earl Panic on Funkotron, Marvel Land, Quackshot staring Donald Duck

RPG- Shinning in the Darkness, Light Crusader, Crusaders of Centy, Shadowrun, Sword of Vermilion, Beyond Oasis

Puzzles- Shove it!, Columns, Trampoline Terror, Zoop, Zoom

Beat em up/Hack n slash- Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe, Golden Axe 2, Power Rangers the Movie, Comix Zone, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hyperstone Heist.

Haunting staring Polterguy is also a really really awesome game. Just don't know what category it would go in lol. Hope this helps.

Nice, thanks for the replies.

I am a huge RPG fan. So I think I am going to go with Landstalker  or Sword of Vermillion next.

Also you guys both had Ristar  so... that should be soon as well.  Good stuff guys.

Dragoon26 : If you like some of the ones I put and want to know some more just let me know. If you like Zelda you will really like Crusader of Centy . It is a lot like the Super Nintendo Zelda game.

I was more into other genres than fantasy R.P.G. stuff for the Genisis.
Contra Hard Corps.
Shinobi.
Strider.
Eternal Champions.
Vector Man.
Valis.
Golden Axe.
Splatter House.
Streets of Rage.
Rolling Thunder.
"The Zero Wing".
Earth Worm Jim.
X-Men.
Comix Zone.
Ninja Turtles and the Hyperzone Heist.
Rocket Knight / or Rocket Mole.
Ghostbusters.
Toe Jam and Earl.
Taz-Mania.

AND...
I recently discovered the first fun console Bond Game. "007 The Duel."

I have heard of "Phantasy Star" and others but for some reason I always want to rush through the Genisis games. Rarely do I ever take my time on that machine. The times I do are few and far between. So I am not much help when it comes to R.P.G. games on that system.
Thanks. Good Chat.
Good Luck.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Currently stuck in Landstalker... but that was exactly what I was looking for. I love not knowing what to do in a game. Especially a RPG!!

Thanks to you guys I now have plenty of options on what to play next... I've played SNES my whole life it seems. Time to catch up on all those Sega games I missed out on/don't remember from childhood.

On Deck:

Sword of Vermilion
Ristar
Strider
Comic Zone
Shining in the Darkness
