The Legend of Zelda: Majora's mask is a sequel to the Ocarina of Time. This time around Link leaves the land of Hyrule and sets out to Clock Town. Unfortunately for Link another adventure begins for the young hero with new temples, different weapons, a whole selection of masks to discover and you only have 3 days to do everything. With all new puzzles and a great adventure waiting in store for you, you'll see why I gave this game a 10/10.

Graphics: 10
Much like Ocarina of Time this game also brought out the best in Nintendo 64 technology and by adding more to it. What I like about this game's graphics starts with the masks. I really liked the transition from Link to the Deku scrub in the beginning of the game. In a way, it kind of hooks you into the game to see more and find out what the game is about. I also liked the quality of the colors and the structures seemed to be more colorful in this game. For me it's the small things that make the biggest differences. I also liked how the graphics made Majora's Mask really look like it was consumed by evil. That stare that the mask gives was pretty creepy.

Animations were pretty cool and I was surprised by the random hand in the toilet. As a kid I remember laughing at it and thought that there had to be someone trapped in there. One of the coolest aspects the game had to offer begins with the water tornado surrounding the water temple. When I saw that, I thought it was nothing less than awesome. This goes for the same with the masks too actually. before I go any further I always want to add that I liked how each of the temple areas change the surrounding settings which offers more to do and more to discover.

Sound: 10
I have to say that I loved the music of this game and compared to the Ocarina of Time, I'd have to say that the music here is possibly better. Majora's Mask, compared to The Ocarina of Time, seemed like it offered more and the music play a bigger role within the game. In Majora's Mask, like Ocarina of Time, you can play songs on the

Ocarina. The cool thing about these songs is the magical energy you can

feel when playing them. Like, for example, the Song of Healing is one of

those songs that speak to you. You can feel the sadness in the song and with how it was composed it could really heal the in-game characters. Of course my favorites of the Ocarina played songs are the New Wave Bossa Nova and the Song of Storms.

For the game though, the overall sound aspect was pretty perfect and it really suited each area perfectly. The game offered unique music and new songs which made it feel quite different to the Ocarina of Time. Yes, the Ocarina of Time used some of the same songs from the first game, but I liked that because it also gave Majora's Mask the appeal that it was still the sequel. Put the pieces together and you can see the similarities and the differences. It's still cool and it's still fun no matter how you look at it right?

Addictiveness: 9
The game is pretty addictive. You may find that there are times when you ignore your bodily needs like running to the bathroom until the last possible moment and ignoring your need to drink something. I've done that plenty of times and end up spending a couple hours going hungry and forget that I was hungry. Majora's Mask was one of those games that made me do this (Yes it made me). This game series seems to be able to hook the players into playing for an extended time period. Don't forget that you have a 3 day time limit and when you're nearing the end of your time you probably feel the need to spend extra time to finish out what you're doing.

Majora's Mask is fun, so why wouldn't you become addicted? There's tons to do in this game, everything from puzzles to collecting masks and heart pieces. True gamers never feel satisfied until they've collected everything. That's one of the things I always liked to do, collect everything.  When I do, I feel like I've seen everything the game has to offer and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. It's small things like this that keep the gamer coming back and play hard to fully complete the game. Can't argue that!

Story: 7
I always like a game series that can build a bigger and larger story through sequels (something I wish Final Fantasy would do more of and better at). Like I said before, Majora's Mask is a sequel to the Ocarina of Time. Link leaves Hyrule in search of a friend (from what it looks like to me). Honestly, I think that's kind of silly but that doesn't take away from the rest of the story. The game is still cool either way. The story continues as you progress throughout the game and you learn a little more about the Town, Majora and what's going on. With having a time limit, you have a lot of side quests you can explore as well and in some ways adds to the stories because the way that people feel seems to change as you get closer to the final hours.

With that being said, I like how this was pieced together. It seemed somewhat realistic that you could see people change over time. The overall story isn't huge though. Ocarina of Time also offered part of it's story involving the Triforce, the Goddesses and more to uncover about Ganon and Link. In Majora's Mask, it's more focused on the side quests that has little to nothing to do with the villain you face at the end of the game.

Depth: 9
I will admit that this game has more to offer when it comes to exploring the rest of the game, but Ocarina of Time offers more for actual levels. In Majora's Mask, you only have 4 main areas where you have the 4 main temples, which is half of what Ocarina of Time offers. This is actually a disappointment because I like playing The Legend of Zelda series to face bosses and new challenges. I don't necessarily want to play the game to complete trivial side quests that do nothing for me (There is a reward but it requires too much work to actually get). Most of the side quests relate to the masks you can get in the game. Each mask has a different abilities and allows you to do different things. Some masks are needed to get other masks or some masks are needed to unlock other items or weapons. It is cool that it gave you more to do, but this wasn't helpful towards the main game in my opinion.

I did like that the levels added another element. This time, instead of only finding the different Fairy Fountains, you needed to bring all the fairies back to the Fountain in order to gain the bonus that she would grant you. Each level offers something unique and I thought that this was a brilliant idea. It also offered more puzzle solving in each Temple because some rooms hide fairies really well and I'd go insane trying to find them, especially when time is running out.

There's another part of the game taken from Ocarina of Time and implemented in a different way. The Gold Skulltulas are back! Luckily, you aren't required to hunt these in each of the temples because if that were the case, who knows how much more challenging the game would actually be. You will have to find these on a side quest and uncover what they're used for.

You also have a good selection of gear in this game but I really think that Ocarina of Time offered more for actual gear because you also had different Tunics and you could change boots. The one thing that made up for this was the masks that offered special powers. Some of these are really cool and I'd love to tell you more about them, but you must figure that out on your own. I'm sure that if you played the game, you'd like it too; It's pretty unique in my opinion.

Difficulty: 7
Depending on how you view the game, it's both hard and easy. What makes it easy is the number of rupees laying around everywhere. There's absolutely no problem with having a little extra cash but you get so much extra that you can line your pockets before you even make it to the first temple. What makes the game hard is that the temples increase in difficulty as

you progress and take more time to think things through than you would

in Ocarina of Time. I liked this because with having a time limit you could run out of time and need to work your way back up to where you were at. Sometimes this took away from my thought process and I'd have to back track more steps. Of course, this is taken from playing the game when I first beat it. Now, I know how to do everything and get everything.

Overall, the game isn't difficult. It requires time to play and to find everything but it doesn't really challenge you too much. Once you get the hang of things and you know what's going on and where to go then it becomes a walk in the park. There were only a few key moments that actually held me back for awhile but it never did any real damage.

If you're looking to challenge yourself there are a couple of ways to do that. The first method is to take the 3 hearts you begin the game with and do a 3 heart run without collecting any other hearts. You can collect all the masks and items you want but no heart containers. The second method is to try to win the game without a sword (There is a way to have your sword taken away from you... If you're new to the game, you'll probably freak out the first time it happens). The last method is to complete the full game in only the first 3 days after you solve the Deku Scrub problem (Note: It is very possible to do. Consider everything you need to do before you actually play). Of course you can combine challenges as well if you'd like.

Overall: 10
Now I know that I've said Ocarina of Time a million times in my review, the reason for that is due to Ocarina of Time being the best possible choice to compare this game to. That's my reason why I didn't try to compare this to any other games. Legend of Zelda is already great so why compare to anything that might not be as great?

I felt that Majora's Mask was worth a 10/10 because it offers different things. It offers great graphics, awesome music, it's addictive, fun, entertaining and it isn't the same game as Ocarina of Time. One of my fears is at some point this series might just become the same game every time. Some reviewers might hate me for saying this but I've felt that Pokémon is one of those games that is the exact same game it was back when I first played it on Pokémon Yellow. To me, it was boring to hunt for all the Pokémon and you couldn't even get them all without hacking and on top of that it added a new generation so instead of getting 151 you had to get 251 and it's over 650+ now? For this reason, I give Majora's Mask credit for standing out as a different Legend of Zelda title. Sometimes different is good.

Lastly, I've played Majora's Mask maybe a dozen times. I love the game and I think it's a great game to play. As a child I remember how much fun it was and I had that mentality that I'd never give up until I finished the game completely. It's worth the time and the energy. If you're someone who is skeptical about this game, you'd shouldn't be. This game offers something that everyone can enjoy, especially if you like puzzle solving, adventure and action. Take some time to actually play the game and I'm sure you'll like it too!

This is a Really great review. It had lot's and loads of detail, and it was over 2000 words. Nice Job, and keep it up.I am expecting big things from reviews like this. I also want to say that I quite enjoyed this game myself. It was very long, and really challenging. On my Nintendo Game Cube I have this on it. I haven't really beaten it yet, but I have became really close. I am at the final dungeon of this game the stone tower temple, and that is one hard place. It is sort of annoying, because it is really confusing what to do. First you have to turn the temple, now you have to turn it back. I mean which is it. Anyways I love this review, and it was long lengthy, and really easy to read. You provided us with more than enough detail in each category.
