I have a pet (fish) because it is a companion for me. It makes me feel happy when I am down.

I have my dog because I've always been a pet lover and I'm happy to see him all excited to greet me upon arriving home. I love to see his reactions and converse with him through body language. The best part is conversing with him. He's just like a human, except that he doesn't talk, has different body features, and is less mentally smart compared to me. He's a great companion!

I have a cat because it is playful we also taught it how to hunt down insects around the house so we wouldn't have to worry about the insects ourselves.

"Why" I have a Cat? Simply because I could get myself attached to it (which is unusual to me). I didn't pretend to have a Cat, but I'm glad I do now, he helps to get my mind rid of problems sometimes, not to mention the laughs. My mother found our cat when it was still a kitten. It was wounded (apparently, someone stabbed him) and brought him home to take care of it until he healed. I ended up getting attached to him somehow, and convinced my mother to keep him.

I have a huge dog as a pet mostly because he is very protective and he makes a good companion despite how much he howls in the back yard. If you saw him you would mistake him for a wolf because of the way he looks. When standing on his hind legs, he is 6 feet tall and he weighs about 120-130 and he is a pretty big dog. He doesn't bark or bite at all, he very rarely barks and does it when he is really upset or when he is alert about something. I have a pet because he is friendly and he makes a good companion and he is very protective and like a 2nd alarm system to us.

My mom grew up with cats, while my dad was allergic to cats, but both of them had pets growing up.

So, mom went out and got a puppy when I was five years old. A small white thing that played for the first couple of years, but became a grumpy small dog, along with the second white dog my mom got after suffering really bad postpartum depression with my first younger brother, so dad got the dog after she came in crying to him at work.

Even though I didn't get to play with the smaller dogs much, I asked for a dog when I was in high school. Dad said no, but he brought home a lab/Shepard mix not even a month later. So, I got my dog that would play/not get mean with me.

The same year, the younger white dog was put down because he had cancer. My parents waited two weeks, then went to find another dog. They came home with our Brittany from the Humane Society. He came in and made himself right at home and was the lab mix's best friend from the start.

A couple of years go by, I leave for college. Before I came home for Christmas, my parents adopted a Yorkie because the first dog they got had turned 16 in the fall and wasn't doing too good. Mom wanted another lap dog after adopting the two bigger dogs, so they found a lap dog.

In May, we had to put down our 16 year old dog.

I've grown up with dogs. When I'm in public with my friends and we pass a dog or I go over to someone's house who has a dog, I've got dogs climbing on me, wanting attention. I talk, I play with them. I like dogs more than humans sometimes. I've tried to be friendly with cats, but it doesn't work. I don't get the same reaction from cats that I do dogs.

But because I'm still in dorm life. I have a fish that sits on my desk in my dorm room. Once I've graduated and have decided that I'm staying in the US or moving to the UK, I want to adopt my own dog for the companionship.

I have a pet snake...
Snakes are awesome and that's why I got one.
It is very interesting compared to other animals.
But it just slithers around to be honest but you can look at it and see how it eats and how it likes it's habitat.
Or how it moves!

I don't have any right, but I plan on getting a puppy and a kitten once I get my apartment at the end of the year. I like having pets for companions, as friends, and as extra family members to keep me company. 

I do not have one at the moment, but when I get over my pet allergies, I will get a kitten, name it Cookie. Lol, I used to have a fish, but it died of a tumor on its neck. Why I had it, I won it at a carnival.

Mostly to keep all the bugs and rats out of the house just about anything that manages to fly or crawl its way in I also have a pet just to have it besides me at all times it's pretty much implemented into my family.

I have a pet dog because I just love cleaning poop and pee. Lol just kidding. I have him because my daughter likes him and he is my fuzzy friend.

I have a cat cuz my mom wanted one. 

I don't but if I did  I would have it for companionship and protection.

I happen to have a little Chihuahua, and he's a pretty nice and fun dog, well, my mother got him because she really wanted a little dog to play around with.

I plan on getting a Newfoundland dog. At the moment, I do not have any pets of the sort. Unless you count rocks.

I have pets because they're fun to hang around and play with and they take me out of boredom.

I have pets because they are pretty much a necessity in a world full of stress, and I think I read somewhere that pet owners live longer than the people who have no pets.

Well now I only have a cat.  That's pretty much it if you count goldfish which all tended to be found dead from my cat , yet we still kept the cat though.

For safety at night and to protect the house.
