Game Informer have released the first details on Max Payne 3 in their July issue. Set 12 years from the last installment (max payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne) in Sao Paulo, Max is now working as security detail for a rich family.

Rockstar have taken over from the series creator, Remedy and are developing the game in house using the RAGE engine (with a fully destructible environment) which was used with GTAIV.

Some new features include multiplayer and a cover system but quotes from the developer say the game will not rely on it heavily. Rockstar have decided not to use Max's original voice actor James Mcraffey, instead they will be casting a new voice actor whos voice will "better express the toll that the years have taken on the protagonist". In the article they go on to say they will continue to use bullet time but with much greater detail.

Rockstar have set the release date 30 November 2009.

I'm very excited about this.... I played the first 2 max paynes and didn't expect them to be able to come up with a third. I'm not sure if I'm happy about Rockstar taking over or not (I'm not a fan of the new GTA games).... but we'll see how it turns out. Needless to say it will be prettier than the firs 2 were, and that never hurts.

I just don't know if it will be as good to play as the first 2....

This is great news, that Max Payne 3 finally coming out soon. Now it give me a reason to buy Play station 3.
