It is basically what the title says, what is your fastest mile time? The fastest time I ever got on a mile that I did was 5:38, and it took me a while to get a good time in the 5 minute range. Otherwise I can run a mile pretty fast in about 6 minutes or so. So what is your fastest time?

I haven't really timed myself since I left the army, but I think since I pace myself now and don't worry about times as much as I did I'm only at around 6:40ish jogging.  Then again, since I jog on a fairly busy road with no sidewalks and have to stop for cars at times, that may be a fairly decent time.

I did a one mile run in 5 minutes once. But the distance we were supposed to go was two miles.
Bad Idea an a half. I was so nuked from that five minute lap that it took forever to get the second mile done.
My 2 mile time on that day was 19 minutes. Witch was unacceptable.
Plus our trainer decided to do so many extra exercises that my body was vomiting water before my stomach could digest it.
Since then I always run a bare minimum of 20 minutes (Even though I clear my 2 miles in 16 minutes.) three times a week.
I do it to remind myself of that day.
Plus it helps work out any bugs or kinks in my body.

Getting a fast one mile run may sound like a good idea.
But
Honestly?
Getting an honest mile is better than a fast one.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

orionfoxgibson : Yeah your right, it is good to get a time you are comfortable with and that doesn't push your body over the limit to where you are gasping for breath to get a fast time. When I do a mile for gym I keep it to 6-7 minutes so I am not panting when I am finished, because whenever we do a mile we usually have physical activity so I try to save my energy. I could cut my mile down to 5 minutes or so but I don't want to do that, especially for gym, it is not like I am competing for anything, when I made the 5:38 time I was on the track team and that is how I got it to that time. So yes a mile you are comfortable with is much better than exhausting yourself. Especially since my gym period is right after lunch.......

The fastest mile I have ran is 4:23. I am just kidding, that is nearly impossible. I can run a mile in the low 6 minute range if I try my hardest and pace myself. I don't usually run just for fun, I run during sports like basketball and baseball. I find that it is more effective there rather than just going out into the street and start running around the neighborhood.  I find it boring and half the time when I want to go do that, I am too lazy at the fact of running aimlessly around a certain place. Good day sir.

Yeah, I like to set a good pace for myself when I am running and I don't like to exhaust myself to the point of panting for breath. I like to finish strong on the last lap because that is when everyone puts forth all of their energy and try to finish off in the top place. The fastest mile in the world was set by some guy named Hicham El Guerrouj of Berkane Morocco, he set the record of 3:43.13 which is extremely fast and that is like 55 seconds each lap which is insanely fast in my opinion. He just broke the record of Noah Ngeny of Kenya and his record was 3:43:40 which I would be so upset if my record was broken by such a small time difference. The fastest record for the women is 4:12.56 by Svetlana Masterkova of Russia. These records are amazing and they compel me to run faster and get a better time, I just like to run, I find it to be fun.

I have actually never timed myself for ONLY a mile run. Anytime I actually had a timer was during cross country races, and those 3.1 miles. However, we did get our 1 mile, 2 mile, and finishing times. The fastest my 1 mile mark was 5:27. But that was on a race where I had 2.1 more miles to go. If I only had to run a mile, I could have definitely gotten that under 5 minutes. But that was back in high school when I was in my prime. 6 years later, I am not near as fast. I wish I actually timed a run where I only had to do a single mile.

Ok, after reading everyone's amazing run times, I'm still going to post mine much slower time. But to put a little back story into first, all my life I've been overweight. A chunk-o-saurus rex. I never did sports in school and I couldn't jog for 30 seconds straight. Seriously, I said jog. Well, long story short, I got my life in gear and lost 40lbs.

Now, with that being said, my fastest time I've ran a mile is still only 8:45, but I'm really proud of how far I've come. I think if I can get it down to 8:00, I'll be really proud of myself.

rcater2: Really? Wow dude that is an excellent time, I did cross country this year and the coach said that after I did my 1 mile event that I got a time of 5:11, so technically you could say that is my fastest time but, I got the 5:38 from actually timing myself and it is around where all of my best miles are. I like to do long distance events like: 800m, 1600m, 2400m, and 2 miles. I am not really that much of a sprinter but I can maintain my speed for a long time. If anyone knows what a pacer is, I do those for gym and it is basically running back and forth and the machine speeds up the pace every lap, I got 112 as my high score, I could probably beat it now this year though.

Apogree : It isn't the time that really matters, it is the effort you put in that ensures you gave it 100% of your effort, and that is what matters. The time is just a number.

One mile is 1000 meters right?.

Well i never times myself on a mile..

I did had 1:25 on the 400 meters.. i was a bit younger then now.. i was 17 back then.. and i was really fast.. but also really light weighted.. so i could simpely run on my fastest without struggling.
I'm the impulsive runner.. i can run for a short time of amount. in incredible speed.. and then its over.
my condition is not really good. but my body, weight, muscles are superior toward that.. so i could run like 25-27 km per hour (speed calculation) kph) but after doing that for a minute i'm just dead tired lol.
adter i runned the 400 meter i was like deadly tired..
I also was 5 seconds faster then someone with  superior lenght, condition, and muscles. but i did not have the stamia do hold on it..
damn i felt bad about that..
But yea i'm pretty fast. but lack the stamina. thats to bad.. i also went more often walking, running these days.. i'm less often outside now etc.. so my stamina gotten even worser i'm afraid xD.. but it doens't matter. i'm still alive and somewhat healthy. so no complanings from this side.

Greetings to all, Yngwie

Call Guinness.
Then again???
Call My office.
I would love to put you on my staff.
Anyone that can beat the world records book might be able to teach me a thing or two about working out.
Maybe you can give me a few pointers about lifting 20,000 lbs a night.
Then again you could admit the truth.
The Ball is in your court.
Good Luck.

Good Luck To All.
