Now I wasn't really expecting a halo game on the atari2600. BUT I was expecting a bad game. This game gets SO MUCH HATE! And by reading all the reviews it has gotten...... It makes me wonder what this game is going to be like! My pre thoughts are this: hmmmm got bad reviews. Better not play it. But since i'm a hardcore atari fan... i'm gonna go ahead and play it. Just so you know I will be giving slight hints in this review to help the people who hate it get a little farther then they got. Also this is going to be a longer review so sit tight.

Story: well i'm not really surprised about this...it has no story. But i'm not gonna say thats a bad thing. Know why? Well first of all its an atari2600 game. Almost no atari2600 game has a story. So what do you expect? And also since this game was made before any other halo game you can't say it should have the same story as the others. If you want it to have a story... MAKE IT UP!

Graphics: Now this was real disappointing. The.... graphics are horrible. And yes. i know. Its an atari game. But thats no excuse. The atari has alot of great games like pitfall and kaboom. Those games have good graphics. So why can't this one. BUT let's not lose all hope just yet. Because the next thing i'm talking about... is the gameplay.

Gameplay: Now the gameplay is amazing. What more do you wanna do in a halo game? Well you wanna shoot stuff right! Well people are saying there is no gun. Thats a dirty lie. There is a gun. And its real simple to find. STEP 1 at the start of the game go up and there is the gun. Wow. Only one step is needed to get the gun. WAS THAT SO HARD!? Another complaint is that you have to find the gun. Well.. yes i know you wanna start off with the gun but the game is an adventure action shooter game. And plus. Many games have a gimick like that. So thats NOTHING to complain about. The gameplay is fun simple and fast. There is alot of action in the game too. What more can you ask for?

Difficulty: Now this game is the hardest atari2600 game I have ever played. I understand why people don't like it. Its hard. But that doesn't mean its bad. There are games that are LOVED to death like megaman and contra. And those are some really hard games. So why is this one different?

In conclusion: I like this game. Its fun hard and a game worth playing. Just so you know I have managed to beat this game without the use of savestates. Anyway please tell me what you think of the review. PEACE! (And yes I know. And I'm sorry I haven't gotten to reviewing megaman 3 yet. I'll do that once I have beaten it.)

I have to say, I love seeing people make a review on a game that gets more hate than it deserves. A lot of people play a few minutes and assume they have the full experience. Thank you for shedding some light on the situation here.

That said, I enjoyed reading this. It's good length for an atari 2600 review, and explains some things. I would have enjoyed a breakdown of the sound, depth, and addictiveness, but all in all, not a bad job here. Keep it up.

I'll tell you why lol, I played this a while ago in the RGR and it was no longer than half an hour. It was lame, and repetitive; I do like some Atari 2600 games: for example Frogger, or Pitfall, but this one, while coded well just doesn't play good. Bottom line.

Well, if you insist on my more detail, the game is too repetitive which takes away the fun factor. There isn't a lot to each screen; each is the same.

I remember playing this in the RGR and going "Bloody hell some barmy's gone and blew off 'alo in a few colours!" Then I played it and I want all like "Cor blimey this is some spondiferous gun blastery!" And like that I was off. I was enjoying it until it got hard so I said "Balls to this" and started playing Donkey Kong Country.

Well, I've never played it so I can only comment based on pure speculation from the screen shots. The game looks bad, okay. Now don't get me wrong I like Halo, but that looks horrible. I can't tell you how bad it looks visually, there are no words to describe. But after I post this I'm gonna go try it out.

Namato : Clearly you do not understand how powerful an Atari 2600 is. And that is not powerful at all. For 2600, this is not too bad at all.

You know what I don't, but the thing about it is, I wasn't comparing this to any Atari 2600 games, or whatever, Visually, in this day and age, this game looks like a piece  of garbage. No. spud, it's powerful, anything that can be projected clearly is powerful, I don't where you got the idea I was comparing games from though.

Well, this is an interesting sounding game. I think I remember checking it out, and quickly putting it away. The hack just seems off for me. It's as accurate you can get with Halo Atari, but meh, it might be my Playstation vibe.

You're a legend to be finding this game. It got lots of hate, it was forgotten. By looking at the enclosed pictures, I can see why it gets bad reviews. 

bluecat2012 : this was not made before any other halo game. It is merely a hack to display what halo would look like if it was on the Atari 2600. But I still agree with your review.

bluecat2012 : Good job on the review. I also really like this game. I think that had this game came out back when I was a kid, I'd probably would have played it to death. It's really simple and easy to get into.
