Alright, keep in mind that this is my first review and it might not be so great. With that said, enjoy!
First, why this game? Well, this game has always been special to me, I'm a big PMD fan and thus love the games of the PMD franchise. This game started them all, and it did a great job at it. I'm happy that it's for the GBA, so that we, the Vizzed members, can all enjoy this wonderful game. It changed the RPG concept of Pokemon and put in a whole different genre, I must say: 'Bravo Nintendo, you did a great job'
Graphics: 9/10. This game has amazing graphics, which is not something you can say for lots of the GBA games. The cut-scenes are amazing, nice effects and overall fun to watch. I agree that some of the sprites, etc. look a bit strange, but hey, what can you say?
Sound: 10/10. Alright, not much to say, other then perfection. The quality of the songs and the sounds is extremely high, almost extreme. Some songs are addictive, others are sad and what makes them so special, is that you feel the emotion your character(s) feel. First time I played this I really chattered into tears when 'Goodbye' started. The music really leaves you think. That is why I find that PMD breaks all the records of any video game with music and sound.
Addictiveness: 10/10. This game, like many others, is very addictive. With such an amazing concept, how can you not love to play it day after day? I do, at least. It takes a while sometimes to make the story progress, which is why you want to keep playing. It's also addictive in other ways. Trying to finally get the starter you want, trying to recruit a pokemon for your team, and many more. I love every bit of it.
Story: 10/10. Another point where this game really shines. The whole idea of turning from a human into a pokemon, finding a new best friend, experiencing a different world, ... The many parts fit together perfectly. The bad guys, the good ones, the amazing characters and their personality's (Gengar, Gardevoir, Caterpie and Metapod,...) and many more. I always have the feeling that I feel how my character feels, which not many games do. Once again, nearly perfection.
Depth: 10/10. The game has a good and long size. The first time I played through it, I thought that the after game was gonna be short and boring, boy was I wrong. It takes lots of time to beat all the dungeons this game has to offer, which I really respect. The game also has many ways you can go, it's not just straight forward.
Difficulty: 8/10. The final part to talk about. The game has a smooth and at sometimes extreme difficulty level. At some points I feel I'm over leveled, while at others I feel like a level 2 in a garden of level 100's. I also like how you can control the difficulty yourself, choosing hard or easy missions.
FunnyFurret's rating: 9.8/10 overall.
That wraps up my first review, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did making it. If you have suggestions, please don't be afraid to tell me. If you didn't like a part, also tell me so I can work on it. This is definitely not my last one, stay tuned! ~FunnyFurret
