Pikmin 3 is an upcoming Pikmin game for the Wii U. It will be he third in the franchise and is being released sometime in 2013. Possibly August 4th. (I'm not entirely sure about the release date) Very little has been released about the story. All I know about the story is
Spoiler:
that Olimar mysteriously isn't one of the playable characters. Why is this? We'll just have to wait until it's released.

Here are a few key features:
- New Rock Pikmin
- Allows player to replay their mission
- Wii U Game Pad compatibility
- Wii Motion Plus and Nunchuk compatibility

The main attraction are the new rock pikmin. They seem to be as slow as purple pikmin and surprisingly they are weaker than red pikmin. Rock Pikmin seem to be strongest when throwing them at an enemy. They will be used to break walls and defeat enemies.
If you replay your mission after you complete it you will be able to see how you did. You'll be able to see each and every pikmin's movements and the movements of the enemies. This would help you improve for next time.
The Wii U game pad is also a big part of the game. You can either use the game pad with the tv and play or you can use the game pad as a map. I can't wait to see for myself how the game pad is used.
Finally you can use the Wii remote and Nunchuk. The game will require the wii remote to have Wii motion plus. The wii motion plus will help your every move become more precise. In Pikmin 2 it was hard for me to hit the enemies sometimes. I wound up just swarming them and I lost a lot of Pikmin. Now it will be easier to get one hit kills.

Some images.

First off, I have only played Pikmin at a friends house for a few minutes, so I don't know much about it. But I'm actually pretty excited about it. I thought there was possibly some other new Pikmin to though? Well, I like that if you were to use the Wiimote to control it (which I wouldn't do), it will make you use the Wiimotion plus. Most games should use it anyways. Well, I do think that it will do well, and could pick up the sales of the Wii U.

patar4097 : I hope you'll enjoy Pikmin 3
There may be some other new Pikmin. I didn't get anything else besides the rock Pikmin. There might be a new flying pikmin. I seen a picture with a pink thing flying and it seemed like it wasn't bad.
Edit: If you look on the box art the pink flying thing is there.
The Wii motion plus is really helpful. Most games should at least have the option for it.

Pikmin 3 is going to be a excellent sequel to both Pikmin 1 & 2, but they (As I'm seeing)  barely any work on trailers as, rock Pikmin?, heavy, just like the purple Pikmin, and the purple Pikmin could also break glass, but the game is going to be better then I will expect of course and prove me wrong, and this game has multi Captains, so as I would expect, way more puzzles, and harder overall gameplay, and I'm really excited for it.

In Pikmin 3 you can play as four captains. I heard that it will be multiplayer but I do not know how it will work. I heard that there are references of the game in Nintendoland. This is very exited and I think that Pikmin 3 is Nintendo's pride. Supporting the fact that Miyamoto came up with the idea when he was in his garden.

When this game comes out I will probably get a Wii U as well as the this and several games. From what I've seen it looks really good and I liked the first two games. If it had come out on the launch day for the Wii U the Wii U probably would have sold better.

I have played Pikmin 2, so it is so exciting to see a third one. I am mostly happy for the new Pikmin! I want it now!

Pikmin? I'm not so sure it might pick up so many sales for the wii u. But nintendo has some amazing stuff right there. Maybe if they brought over some games from xbox the wii u might pick up some more sales. I'm dying to see terraria on the wii u.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the flying pikmin earthwarrior. Anyway, I like that you can throw captains too, that's going to be fun.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

Pikeman was such a obscure, but good title in its own way it became a classic, almost legendary one could say, it brought the heart of millions. But I must say, Really good post, very unique, very thought provoking, and very inteligent, intellectually sound, and thought provoking. You can play so many games on the device, Pikeman reminds me of classic games like a classic series I hold deep in my heart, the name of the series is Resident Evil. Ah Resident Evil now there's a series that brings back many memories for me. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, and annoyed. The time it came out, I was quite young still in grade school, but though young the series made a lasting impact on me that I will never forget. The graphics may be horrendous now, but back then they were state of the art, I remember being scared out of my mind as a kid when I played that close to Halloween, I didnt sleep that night at all, not a good combination mixing turning the sound all the way up, with the lights off, and it being night out, I had nightmares for a week. My friends all were scared of that game as well, we all used to run home and were glued to our television sets, seeing what would happen between Wesker, Chris, and Jill, those three are like the trio of legendary proportions always anyone whoever it is talking about Resident Evil it's always Wesker, Chris, and Jill. And the infamous Jill sandwich, such a legendary meme, I was thinking of that meme for ages, it was so classic, and funny. I am glad this site offers so much Resident Evil, I could play the series for hours on end. Sadly Capcom never showed love or stop caring for Resident Evil after Resident Evil 4. After Resident Evil 4, it was not the same Resident Evil, I grew up on and fell in love with, it dramatically changed in the bad way, I never really understood why though they did such a harsh change to the genre. Don't get me wrong though, the later games are fun and amazing, but as amazingly awesome they are, it's just not the same as Resident 1 through Resident Evil Code Veronica. The newer ones are pure action, with barely any or none at all horror content or substance, a shell of its former self if you will. Hopefully Capcom will regain it's former glory and stop churning out games like theres no tomorrow, and Call of Duty clones. But in all it is a very wonder ful game, and has alot to give.

I've never played Pikmin before, but I've always wanted to. Whenever I had the money, it was sold out and when it was back, I didn't have the money, that was extremely frustrating. And now, I can't find it anywhere anymore in the shops here for the Wii. So many second hand games, but no luck finding Pikmin yet.

So I'm absolutely stoked about this news! Once I get my Wii U I'll make sure that this time that game won't evade me. And then hopefully it's everything I expected it to be, but I'm sure it will be ^^ I can't imagine I wouldn't like it.

Itachi_4_ever : Where did you try looking for it? Gamestop? They have a pretty bad selection of used games because anything good will sell out leaving only the mediocre and bad titles in their  used game bins. If you are near any large city there should be retro/used game stores that have amazing quality and quantity of games. It may take some searching, but chances are if you ask a Gamestop employee they will tell you where you can find one.
