Oh, my, God, I LOVE this game! Speaking both as a fan of Tokustatsu and a gamer, Kamen Rider does the famous franchise from Toei justice. Story: Set during the Kamen Rider story arc, you play as either Kamen Rider I or Kamen Rider II as you fight against the terrorist organization Shocker, who's bent on world domination. They use cybernetically enhanced soldiers in their army, and as being one of their own weapons turned against them, only you are capable of defeating them and saving the world from conquest Game play: If you've ever played 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' for the SNES(and I'll call bull@!#$ if you say you haven't) then the game play will feel familiar. It's a side-scroller where you fight your way through hordes of enemies until finally reaching the boss of each stage. However, quite unlike 'TMNT', you start out as a regular person that is able to 'henshin', or transform into the titular hero. As a person, you deal half as much damage as you would as a Kamen Rider, and take twice as much hurt. So if you're a beginner, you're going to want to transform right away, especially when you have to deal with all those annoying side-bosses who keep popping up in the stages. Your attacks are the standard punch, kick, jump punch and jump kick, nothing really special, but that's hardly the point in this. Sound: For an SNES, you're obviously not going to expect a whole lot, but for what it is, It's actually pretty good. The opening theme is going at both the intro, and the boss battles, while the fight themes are in between during the stages. Also, when the titular person shouts "Rider, HENSHIN!" when you transform still sends tingles down my spine while the little fanboy in me squeals like a girl. And when he shouts "Rider KICK!!" when you defeat the boss at the end of each stage, while a cut scene is going of him performing his famous finisher is just satisfying. Graphics: For an SNES, the graphics look as good as any other decent SNES title, including names like TMNT, Super Mario, etc. The camera is always at that third-person view while the user is walking around and beating the life out everything around him. The backgrounds and environments look detailed, even when viewed from a distance, and the cut scenes look really good, almost like an animated/ graphic novel. Overall, if you love Kamen Rider, or Tokusatsu in general, play this game. If you like side-scrolling with mindless beatings, play this game. If you've read this review all the way through, PLAY THIS GAME!!! Oh, my, God, I LOVE this game!
