The Pokémon game that already had a huge success/ fan base in Japan, then brought Pokémon franchise to America, here it is the first ever Pokémon game to ever be released in America, Pokémon Red Version! This is the game that started the huge multimillion dollar Pokémon franchise and kicked off/started many great epic years of the Pokémon franchise/series games in America( as well as Japan). This is truly a classic Pokémon game/adventure that no fan of the series can resist to play, between the games latest and greatest graphics and sound for it's time it made the Game Boy gaming system/handheld fly off the shelf's, with everybody anticipated to buy/pay this game!
Graphics: There are no glitches/ screen errors, the trainers, and landscape are in nearly perfect in design for this old school game. The graphics were the highest of quality for it's time, one would even go as far to say they set the standards for future games that would come out for the Game Boy system/handheld. The graphics aren't what you'd expect from a Game Boy system, they are much better, thus earning the graphics rating a solid 10 out of 10.
Sound: Well the sound is amazing, everything sounds smooth as far as the music go's. There are no what I would call "scratchy" tones/music, Pokémon cries are excellent and can be heard clearly. And quite frankly every Pokémon has it's own unique cry, where you can tell the differences in the cries. So for sound I gave it a perfect 10 out of 10.
Addictiveness: this game is highly favorable as you can tell by it's later and highly popular remake Pokémon FireRed for the Game Boy Advanced, I literally played it straight until I beat it thoroughly, so I would reply this again any-day just for a good trip down memory lane for the remembrance of the game that started the whole franchise for/in America. So for addictiveness I gave it a 8 out of 10.
Story: The story is basically this, your a young boy around the age of 10-12 who's just got his first Pokémon today and his taking his first steps of becoming a Pokémon trainer/master. On your journey you will face many tough challenges like the crippling strong gym leaders, and the nearly invincible group of elite trainers called the Elite 4, and not to mention, you take down a huge international major crime syndicate along the way in your journey. You will face many hardships and great challenges ahead put push on through them and train hard with your Pokémon partners! So for the story I gave it a staggering 9 out of 10.
Depth: Well the game itself isn't very lengthy, but with the extra events like finding and capturing the legendary birds and capturing the legendary mewtwo, which by the way unlike its later remake FireRed, you don't have to wait en-till after you get the national pokedex to open mewtwo's cave, in this, the original it's open right after you conquer/beat the Pokémon Elite 4. And also you can do the mew glitch in this game! I estimate play time for this game at about 8-9 hours if you use the speed button. So for depth I gave this game a 8 out of 10.
Difficulty: To be honest the game isn't that difficult if you raise a well balanced team of Pokémon with a lot of diversity. The trainers you face should be pretty fairly easy to beat if you have the Pokémon type advantage over there's . So for difficulty I gave the game a 6 out of 10.
Overall: The game is a good investment time and
Viz wise,it offers a good quality story with some good interesting plot/story events. It has a fair amount of things to do in it between raising your Pokémon, battling gyms and the elite four and as well as normal trainers, catching legendary Pokémon and obtaining the national pokedex , and playing slots in the game corner for cool prizes you will be occupied for a while. So overall I gave this game a 9.8 out of 10.
