This is a hack of Sonic 1 (originally intended as a lock-on between Sonic 1 and Sonic and Knuckles but aborted due to a poor matching colour palette) where the character is basically changed from Sonic the Hedgehog to Knuckles the Echidna, as the only noticeable alteration from the original Sonic 1 game. That means levels, sound, depth and the storyline will remain the same but Knuckles will possess a few extra strengths and weaknesses that should make for an interesting journey through the game. Knuckles can glide, climb walls to places several other characters can't get to, break through weakened underground just by running into them and perform spin-dash. Basically his moves are unchanged from the Sonic and Knuckles game, from which the character is imported from, though there are some changes to his appearance, such as a darker red colour and blue shoes instead of his usual green. What might make his journey less smoother is that Knuckles cannot jump at the same height as Sonic can, so climbing walls and gliding are his only chance of progressing through levels quickly. Like in the original Sonic game, Knuckles will come face-to-face with his one-time companion Dr. Eggman, who must be defeated in order to win the game. Overall this game isn't too hard, and because Knuckles has additional strengths, such as climbing ability, the path to the level goal is sometimes much more clearer.

I used to own Sonic and Knuckles, and I loved to link it with all of the Sonic games. In all honesty, I think they made the Sonic games alot more fun than they were with Sonic. That said, I agree with your review, and think you did a good job here.
