you don't even have to propose to her in order to just talk to her. Even if you have to talk about something stupid like school work or weather or whatever else you can find just do that.

It just takes time to become confident talking to someone you like but once you get through the first time it becomes easier and easier. Just don't get ahead of yourself and ask her out before you have any idea if she likes you at all.

You are not alone DJ2536; many guys have that problem. But now is the time to trough it out the window. I'm not asking you to get rid of your shyness, I'm saying I think you can overcome it when you need it to be done.

Trust me, you will lose great opportunity with girls if you keep doing that, so you just need to man up and do it. Honestly, I find the easiest thing to do is meet her in her group of friends and say "hi, my name is ______" and then have a conversation about something you have in common. Keep it short.

If you DO already know her, then think of something you need to ask/tell her. Maybe it's an invitation to a get together you are having. Whatever it is, just be casual, go up to her like she's anyone else and just say what you need and either 1. start talking to her about something you have in common or she likes, or 2. make sure you have a follow up way to see her (invite her somewhere, or get her number or something, all very casually).
