I have a monitor for computer and for some reason it wont work. SO I need help on how to fix this problem. What is wrong with it you ask, Will when I turn it on it will show everything that it should show on the screen for a second. And then the next thing I know the screen goes pitch black. Every thing is plugged in properly and the power button shows that the monitor is on. So what is going on! Can you please help me find a solution to this, PLEASE.

Well it's kind of hard for someone to help you. Did you hit it or anything? Is t really old? Maybe contacting your computer provider is best. Not many people on vizzed know enough about computer to help much.

Well, I think there are plenty of people on vizzed knowledgeable about computers.  But there are honestly like 5 million things that could be causing your problems. More information really is needed, but unfortunately I'm not a techie.  I could guess what info is needed, but then I'd just spur a whole bunch of useless conversation, probably.  Hence, I'm going to summon someone I think would be most able to help you:

Crazy Li :
I hope you don't mind.

Now first, have you tried plugging it in to another PC just to make sure it's not the CPU?

Beastmode64 : try using a different power cord because your it could potentially have a short in it... and also is it a tube monitor or a flat screen monitor. also could you check if your menu button works on it if it isn't power or the power cord that is the problem. If the menu work i might have helpful advice for you (when accesing the monitor's menu try keeping it disconnected from a computer).

Sorry to say, but monitors die eventually. I had a 19" LCD monitor that I bought back in 2006 die on me just 2 weeks ago. It's really impossible to explain what it looked like when it turned on... you would just hafta see it. Point is, it died. I had to buy a new one. It happens.

Your situation is most likely one of 3 things:

1. The monitor itself died - replace it.
2. The VGA (I'm assuming you use VGA) port on the monitor end is shot - if you don't have any other connector ports (such as DVI), your monitor is worth as much as if it were actually dead. Replace it.
3. Your connector cable is bad. Replace the cable and you might still have some life in your monitor.

Crazy Li : I don't think it died because I can see the image of the computer slightly. It is really dark and I tried adjusting the brightness and it did not work.

My dead monitor still technically shows something... but not something usable... it's mostly dark grey with little lines of some kind of desaturated color poking through.
