Greetings to all the admins of this site.

When I am playing Pokemon Ruby, I use the 'Speed' button in order to fast forward everything along. The only thing is that I have hit the 100 hour recorded mark. I think I have encountered the Berry Glitch which is when in-game time freezes and daily events and growing berries cannot be done. Is there a way to fix this?

tRIUNE: Maybe you could help here?

And I think that the in game time freezes when it reaches 999 hours. Not 100.  I haven't heard about this though. So are you saying the glitch is happening for you now?

patar4097 :

I believe so. I looked up the amount of time that it takes for an Oran Berry to grow (12 hours total) as well as the time required for a few other berries that I planted. I thought 2 things: one was I could cheat the system by holding down the speed button while watching the clock until 12 hours had passed or I could just wait the full 12 hours. After performing both, the berries that I planted had not grown at all. I'm not completely positive as I haven't checked the Lilycove Mart to see if the events work or not, but this seems like the most probable reason.

Also, I planted berries right before I did this patch and it worked fine.

I also thought of the possibility that saving and closing the game would actually freeze the game so time would not run, but since it was stated that I was playing off an actually copy of the game, I don't think this could the case. Fast forwarding with the 'Speed' button should also counter this. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I played Pokemon Gold on another site and if I saved the game on a Saturday, it would actually pause the game file and when I went back, it would start up on Saturday. I would have to play and leave it on for an entire day to change the day to Sunday.

astray71 : Well, for Pokemon Gold, at least on this site, the time will go according to real time. If you look at the clock, and speed it up, it will still take a full minute for it to change. But I'm not sure if it's any different in Emerald. I would think that it would take 12 real hours, whether you have the game up and running or not.

tRIUNE : Could you help here?

patar4097 :

Thank you for the quick replies.

It has been about 16 hours since I planted the berries (in real time) and currently, they have not moved passed stage 1 of berry growth (still mounds of soil). The full time that the berry I planted needs to fully ripen is 12 hours. Could this glitch possibly be due to the fact that I've overused the "Speed" control?

And thank you for referring an administrator to this thread in order to look at this problem.

Well, my knowledge of pokemon games is limited since I haven't actually played any of them other than for testing, so after looking into this "berry glitch" I've read that it's apparently a glitch that was in the actual game cartridge that could be fixed by linking it to the GameCube Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire.

I've also found that there's a rom version that has this fix patched into it, which is not the version that's available in the retro game room.

The RGR Plugin does fix the internal battery error, but I'm not sure about the berry glitch. If you'd want to upload a copy of your save state file (saved with F2) I'll check it out.

You'll find the save state from this file path on your computer:
C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-337649VBASaves

Or you may find it by this method:
Go to Start Menu -> All Programs -> Vizzed Retro Game Room -> Open Plugin Data Folder -> User-337649 -> VBA -> Saves.

The file name will be Pokemon Ruby.sgm which you'll upload to http://www.sendspace.com/. Then you can post the link to download it in here.
