Well first of all this is Mk for master system . Mortal combat was a franchise that made many squeals and a couple of future films . The first Mortal combat was an arcade game that got ported to many consoles and handhelds . Mortal combat was also at the center of the 16 bit
console war as you know .The Sega Genesis V's The Super Nintendo . This is the Sega master system  version I'm reviewing .

sense The Sega Master system Was still popular in Europe . Acclaim and probe software decided to make a port exclusively to that  continent . Acclaim was to publish this port while probe software had done the things like graphics and music.  anyways lets start off this review

Graphics The Sega master system does lack some character levels and features that the arcade had. You ill notice kano is missing and there are only 2 stages goros lair and the pit

. Those were mainly selected for the gray and gold color  .Because the Sega master system was not able to put out a great color pallet.
You were missing some stuff like the pit fatality and you cant fight reptile in this version .Mostly because they were running out of room on the cart. Graphics gets a 6/ they are pretty grainy but remember this is on a 8 bit system so you could not expect a perfect looking version.

Sound  First of all while there are some good master system tunes like wonder boy and sonic the hedgehog . Most master system games didn't have really great . Music . And there is no variety of sound effects . The music is just a like a endless 8 bit loop in order to make a soundtrack. Sound gets a 5 not a very good soundtrack or variety of sounds but for a 8 bit system its alright.

Addictiveness  you do have access to special moves and 5 characters because kano is missing . You have fights that's fun but that's all that's available  for this port. Addictiveness 5

Story As I said in previous reviews someone is trying to rule earth realm you pick some characters and you stop them a lot of fighting games still use story lines like this not sure why . Story gets a 5 nothing new

Depth as I said  you have access to special moves only 5 characters . And this port of mk1 does not have many stages . Does not have hidden characters . So your missing a lot of stuff again this is do to hardware limitations . So depth gets a 4 nothing big to look forward to

Difficulty controls are kind of slow  you need to delay your speed timing for example to do Johnny cages shadow kick you have to press back and forward kick  a few seconds later than you naturally would that is also required for special moves. ai while most computer opponents  are not that hard . Goro is very hard he mainly throw you  a lot in fact . This version of goro makes this the hardest port of mk1. Difficulty gets a 7 its pretty hard and controls have slower timing.

I cant really recommend this unless your a  master system fan or just wanna experience every port of mk1 that there is . Final verdict a 6.5 its okay.
