you're going to want to earn a lot more than that if you're going to live on your own.

I manage an apartment building and we generally require 2.5 times rent for the income of the tenant.

Basically make sure that you are earning more than enough to cover all the bills, food, and extras that you have.

Also be very sure of the rules of the house.... make sure bills, cleaning, cooking, food, etc are all divided up evenly and understood by everyone in the house. Money, food and cleaning are the most often fought about things between tenants.

Not sure what else I can think of... it all depends on the situation... some roommates can be really relaxed and enjoyable and others are extremely anal about things.... just gotta get lucky I guess.

Make sure to check any place for black mold, that stuff is really bad for your health.
Also check how thin the walls are.
Remember, at night noises are louder so thin walls will mean you hear everything.

If you have any friends that you are really close with see if they are looking for a place too and you could be roommates.
If you share a place with the right people it can be great but hell at other times, so think about whether you want a place to yourself or a shared arrangement.
