I think my dream room would be kind of like a library, full of shelves to keep all my books and games and videos and what have you. It would be a much easier way to keep things organized; better than the piles I have a lot of my stuff in now, at least.
My initial thought was to line the walls with shelves, but that would severely limit opportunities for decorating, so again, like a library, they would stand free in the middle of the room instead. That way I could have a nice color, maybe lilac or burgundy or a darker purple, or maybe even a shade of blue--it really depends on how it would look on the wall--with a few tastefully placed posters here and there, and a nice window with a reading nook (that I would probably also use for my laptop and portable game systems).
Hardwood floors, definitely. I've had enough trouble with carpet in the past, and I just like the way hardwood looks. Rugs, on the other hand, might serve nicely to break up the monotony, and I guess tiles would be dandy in a kitchenette area--I mean, who would want to leave their dream room just to go to their kitchen for something a kitchenette could do just as easily, like a quick snack? Anywho, floors aren't that important, so as long as it isn't fully carpeted.
TVs all over the place, of multiple kinds! Old ones, new ones, just in case one might be better for a particular application that another. We've all been disappointed by how a standard definition game looks on a high definition TV, right? So, the best SDTV, which is to say widescreen with full component in and S-Video. Of course, an HDTV would be a must, and a projector with a nice big screen.
Dimmer switches, and beanbag chairs everywhere! Sure, regular chairs for people who prefer them--I mean, no reason to have such an awesome room if I'll be the only person to use it--but for my own personal preference, SumoSacs are where it's at. I'd probably get bored of them after a while and want something more supportive, though, so again, having regular chairs would be good.
Now, if this is a bed room, it would be a friggin' huge one at this point, but I'd still like some semblance of intimacy and . . . you know, coziness. I'm thing bed-fort. Basically, imagine a canopy bed, but the mattress would be hug and flat on the floor, with and equally large canopy fixed to the wall above it. That way, I could close the canopy-curtains when I wanted to room to seem small (when I sleep), or leave them open. Best of both worlds. The mattress would have nice silk sheets, probably black, and the canopy would be whatever color best complimented the color of the walls, I suppose. The mattress would also have tons of stuffed animals on it, which is to say, the ones I already have and whichever I pick up in the future. Mostly Sonic characters.
Yeah, now my real room seems even crappier... I think my dream room would be kind of like a library, full of shelves to keep all my books and games and videos and what have you. It would be a much easier way to keep things organized; better than the piles I have a lot of my stuff in now, at least.
