My favorite will have to be the Koopa Troopas because their shells have a lot of uses in the older Mario games. When Yoshi ate a red Koopa, it spat fire; when it ate a blue one, it could fly. You could carry the shells and throw them at enemies or blocks to get power ups when you were too small. It is also funny in super Mario 64 when you can step on a Koopa and can take its shell and ride it like a snowboard.
