Well, I guess I'll take the offer and do so.

Back-story on why I used that quote first: Singelli wanted her's closed, said that quote (reading it, you should be able to tell what it means), and so, I decided that I'll recreate it.

Now, if anything, I think the problem with the last thread was that we (And yes, I am no exception, and I for one take overall blame for this) went overboard on religion hate/preaching, gun control rants, etc etc. Because of that, I have only one rule to make here:

DO NOT POST HERE IF YOU'RE JUST GOING TO RANT ABOUT, OR LACK OF THEREFORE, RELIGION, GUN CONTROL, OR ANYTHING THAT WILL SPARK MASS CONTROVERSIAL DEBATE. THIS THREAD IS HERE TO RESPECT THOSE WHO HAVE AND WERE LOST IN THIS TRAGEDY, AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY. YOU WANNA START THOSE DEBATES? DO IT ELSEWHERE.

Hopefully the caps, bold, italics, and underline will drill it through your heads. If you choose to break that request, then chances are I'll end up requesting it'd be edited, whether it would be the OP or a mod, and would hope that it gets followed through with. I don't wanna hear people use this tragedy as a way to spread and promote their ideas and beliefs.

Just my two cents, but you state as a rule in your thread that we are not to rant about gun control and the very first thing you do in the same post is link to your old post in which you rant about whether or not teachers should be prevented from having guns and the gun control measures involved in him obtaining one.  If you are going to cite a rule, it only seems fair that you live by the very rule you post.  The very definition of a tyrant is one who establishes laws to which he has no intention of following himself.

That being said, I have read the previous thread and was disgusted at how people tried to turn a tragedy into a platform for their own ideologies.  I am disgusted to see the OP doing the very same thing in this thread but doing so in a manner where his own previous post is allowed to break the very rule he is applying on others.  This "my posts don't have to follow the rules but yours had better or I'll sick the mods on you" activity is rather offensive and abusive and harassing.

That being said, I pray that those involved in this tragedy will find peace and comfort.

Honestly, It seems like you made that post alone just to bash me, and that's it. And Pro-Tip: Pink Name = Female User, Blue/Green Names = Male, since you're clearly still confused on that concept. Best to refer to what people claim what gender they are, it can be quite offensive to some people and be considered harassment.

That's not a pro-tip that is you trying to harass me into using terminology you want me to use instead of letting me use proper english.  Proper English by the way dictates that the word can be used as such:

Hence, I have not met you in person and therefore can use the term "him" "he" or "his" in the general form according to the proper definition of such.  If you don't like that, you can feel to write your own dictionary and convince the colleges and schools in the USA to abandon the currently established standards of Websters/etcetera to adopt your own dictionary that has eliminated that definition.  Until then, my use of him in a general sense is perfectly acceptable.

Lastly, you didn't have to quote your post.  You could see the post violated your own rules and therefore you could have written a post that did not violate the rules.  If you want to be fair and just and equal toward all (which is love) you would edit that link out of your post and make a fresh post with your views in a way that does not violate your own rules.  Or you could keep the link there so that you get to break the rule you made while threatening to sick the mods on anyone who does the same exact thing you just did.

This is an awful tragedy, and trying to profit off it by supplying your own views and telling others they can not on those same subjects is horribly heartless toward the victims of those families.  I hope a mod locks this thread and that a thread is made which doesn't quote agenda based posts and really focuses on caring about those people.  We should have a thread which only allows us to make posts TO the victim's families telling them how we feel and care for them from wherever we are and how we hope they will find comfort and peace instead of the kind of mind games that this thread and the last thread seem to really focus on.

THESE ARE HUMAN BEINGS!!! They have hearts and souls.  They live and breath and feel like any of us do.  They are in mourning, they are in sorrow, some are depressed I'm sure, and they are all about to go the rest of their lives having to be reminded of this horrible tragedy on what is supposed to be the happiest and most joyful time of the year...every year...for the rest of their lives.  Why can't we just focus on them, show love and compassion for them...why must we quote these agenda based posts and have ulterior motives.  Where is the love in humanity now-a-days....

I so hope that none of the victims' family members/friends have to witness the last thread or this one.  And if they are, I want you to know I love you, I am praying for you, I feel for you, and I hope and pray that you will find comfort and peace.

I think the opening post is hypocritical as well.  I mean, look at the quote from me:  "If you want to open a debate on the same topic, feel free to do so."

Look at Mega's next line: "Well, I guess I'll take the offer and do so."

Then the readers are confronted by a link to the stat of a debate.

And then everyone is told in no uncertain terms..... not to debate.

In all fairness I believe some edits should be made, at least to respect the victims of the tragedy.

Singelli : I would like to point out the name of this forum is Debate / Logic / News Discussion, so wanting it not to be a debate is still an entirely fair request. Plus, it seems to me she was saying something more to the extent of "do not rant on about it". Really, I think people should be able to discuss something without it becoming a massive blob of ranting.

I'll state what I did before then.

It's a horrible tragedy, and I'll be praying for everyone suffering through it, including the young children bound to be traumatized by it.  I pray that God gives them strength through such a horrible time, and I have faith that God can heal the pain.  It will take time, but I urge everyone to also pray, if this is acceptable for them to do.  In any tragedy, people deal with losses in many ways, and I can only hope that everyone does their part to remain a positive force in the aftermath.

The Westboro church just sickens me. They are the people that give not just religious types a bad name, but HUMAN BEINGS! I understand the right to strike, picket, and complain, but they are just utterly disgraceful. They've picketed celebrations,  fallen soldier funerals, and any other tragedy services, such as this one.

Honestly, I think they just want attention. Just childish people simply using God so they can cause trouble.

I hope the families of the fallen, as well as that brother of the killer for going through so much hardship too (and carrying the burden of being related to such a horrific murder sure won't help) are able keep going.

I found a rather touching article on how the father of child who was killed in the attacks had sympathy for the family of the murderer. It certainly is not something I could do!

ruesen :  I only glanced through that article since I have a headache, but if I understood correctly, I am BEYOND horrified.  I don't see how God could have any mercy on them when their time comes.

Thanks for the other article.  It.... lets me see that not all is bad.  It's nice to see such coverage, and I only hope more support can be found.
