I played this game on the GameCube system.

Being a fan of RPGs, and seeing this game for the first time, I was very skeptical. But once I began playing it, my attitude changed very quickly.

Tales of Symphonia boasts a mix of anime and computer animation into an addictive story line with twists and turns around every corner.

The unique battle style takes some of the stress off of worrying abour gaining levels and places more emphisis on fighting skill. No longer is your character's strength based on what level he's at, but your ability to execute his attacks and control him.

I found this to be a great RPG and hope more like it come along. If I had to rate it out of 10, then this game would easily recieve a 9.

I didn't think that Tales of Symphonia brought anything really new to the table outside of making the battle field 3D and giving it an ackward feeling compared to the previous games in the series. I also thought that the story telling and the voice acting were kiddish as hell. Very annoying indeed. For a game that I have been waiting a long time to be released, I was sorely disappointed. If you find a used copy of Tale of Eternia for the PSX, get that instead. Don't waste your money on this.

In short, if you haven't played any of the Tales games before, you'll like this game. It stays pretty well true to the older games gameplay wise. If you've played the older games, you'll be hitting your head against the wall chanting "What the hell is this?" But as long as I cut the voice actors off, I didn't find the game too bad. And the story itself is decent enough. But I was still pissed when I plunked down $50 for it when it first came out. It's $20 now so that's a plus but some stores still carry them at the inflated price. (coughWalMartcough)

ToS is awesome, but that Rockforteking guy is kind of right, the english voice acting blows (they have Robin from Teen Titans as Lloyd). Tales of Eternia beats ToS by far but it's relatively hard to find.

Also, the next game: Tales of Legendia won't be coming out for the GCN, it'll be out for the PS2...
